I know this is a little late (and long) but for those who asked, here's how things went at Gettysburg on Halloween. I cut and pasted this from my Facebook and don't feel much like editing so you're getting my "family" version of events (i.e. long-winded LOL).

So, I took the boo and 3 of his friends to Gettysburg Friday night on a ghost hunt. Yeah, what was I thinking, 4 13 year olds with over-active imaginations, right? It was a lot of fun, though. The kids saw and heard ghosts, haunts, images, etc at every turn. Though, I will admit there were a couple of things we are hard pressed to explain. Paranormal activity? Maybe or just some logical explanations we haven't thought of yet.

We started out at Little Round Top, reputed to be haunted. We had 3 voice recorders but only one working camera. Steve and I had one recorder, Catherine and Abby had one and J.R., Jared and Karl had the other. Nothing much happened there, except the kids were convinced they were surrounded by something as they kept hearing rustling sounds. Well, the wind was blowing about 20 miles an hour, so yeah, there was a lot of rustling LOL. We then proceeded to the Wheatfield. Two things I can't quite explain happened there. First, we had taken my dog Ella and while she was fine on the path, when we walked off the path into the field, she balked. Normally she'll about pull your arm out of the socket when she's on a leash but that time, we practically had to carry her through. We finally put her in the car, where she seemed quite happy. The second thing was on one of the voice recorders, you can hear what sounds like someone saying "Get down, get down". There were plenty of people there that night but the only other people at the wheat field when we were there were way across the road and we couldn't hear them from where we were. The only other explanation is that there was someone there without a flashlight that we couldn't see. We then proceeded to the peach orchard. I don't recall anything in particular there. Our last stop at the battlefield was the Pennsylvania Memorial. I'll spare you all the hysterical rantings of the kids and their story about their flashlight being ripped from their hands and thrown across the field. I think they dropped it and it rolled down the hill but that's just my opinion. However, here's one of the other things I can't quite explain. Steve and I had gone to the back of the Memorial and were sitting on the steps. We were asking questions into the recorder when all of a sudden the recorder started beeping as if it had run out of tape and then shut off. We checked, the tape was only 1/2 used. We started it up again, as soon as we started talking, it did the same thing. We had put in new batteries the day before and only tested them to make sure everything was working. But, we thought ok, the batteries were dead. So, we changed them and it seemed ok. No big deal. Right after we got the batteries changed, we both noticed one thing. My forearms between my elbows and wrists got really cold, that was the only place on me that was cold. And I was sitting on the steps slightly below Steve so that my arms and his knees were about level. And his knees, and only his knees got cold. As soon as we commented on it, it stopped and went back to normal. It was definitely strange. The next day, we were listening to the tape and you can hear where the recorder messed up, the tape speeded up like it was on fast-forward. Out of curiousity, I put the old batteries back in and strangely enough, they worked fine.

So, we then went to the town of Gettysburg itself. We took the kids on one of the guided ghost walks through the town. Of course, the kids were seeing and hearing things at every turn, it was really funny. We were at Cemetary Hill, and while the guide was giving his talk, Steve and I distinctly heard a cannon go off. J.R. and Abby both said they heard it as well, but if anyone else did, they didn't mention it. I understand that it's quite a common occurance, for some people in a group to hear them and not others. The last thing that happened, I'm a little embarrassed to talk about. We were standing outside of the school, one of the field hospitals during the battle. I turned around to say something to Steve and saw someone dart around the back of him. He's a big guy, and was standing on a curb and the person I saw was fairly small, probably not much taller than I am. I looked behind Steve to see who it was and there was no one there. I know I saw someone but I can't figure out who it was or where they went. Catherine said she saw something out of the corner of her eye but didn't know what it was. She just saw movement.

We also got some pictures. The kids are of course convinced it's the spirits trying to manifest themselves. The light and flash patterns are definitely a little strange (ok, a lot) but I'm sure there's a reasonable explanation. I can't find the USB cord to download the pcs at the moment, but as soon as I do, I'll post a few.
