RACES TO CHOOSE FROM IN THE LANDS OF BAVIDIRIAN
Humans: These are people just like you and us. They are adaptable, flexible, and extremely ambitious. Compared to the other races, humans are relatively short-lived. In game terms, humans get an extra feat and four extra skill points to reflect their natural tendencies. The Bavidirian Empire is primarily ruled in the lands by humans and are the leader of the alliance. They are in peace with most races keeping them economically strong. Dwarves: The members of this race are hearty and steadfast, standing about 4-1/2 feet tall but powerfully built and extremely broad. They have a strong connection to mountains and rocky places. They can live to be more than 400 years old. They also receive bonuses against poison, spells, and magical effects. Dwarves also have darkvision, the ability to see up to 60 feet in the dark. The use to have great halls inside the Dwanen Mountains but now live amongst the humans in various towns scattered throughout the lands. High Elves: High elves have a strong connection to the natural world, especially woodlands. They can live to be more than 700 years old. Known for being artists of both song and magic, elves have an affinity for spellcasting and lore. They stand about 5-1/2 to 6 feet tall, appearing graceful and frail. They are immune to sleep effects and receive a bonus against enchantment spells. Elves have low-light vision and a racial bonus on Listen, Search, and Spot checks. They have joined the pixies to protect the sacred tree of Silvernarion. The High elves empire is on 7 different islands north of the Bavidirian Lands. Their capital is Swienalden. Halflings: Halflings are clever and capable — much more so than their small size might indicate. Standing about 3 feet tall, with slim, muscular builds, halflings are athletic and outgoing. Curious to a fault and usually with a daring to match, halflings love to explore. They tend to live well past 100. Gnomes: They are a playable race who have large-heads and stand about 4 feet in height. They display a characteristic of a cheery temperament. They have a high degree of intelligence coupled with curiosity and poor judgment, and an unusual talent when it comes to either using magic or inventing and building technology, depending on the setting. They are a unique race that is both malevolent and benevolent who sometimes come up with small-sized inventions to help aid their companions. Dark Elves: Dark Elves where once high elves until Lord Pythonian offered them wealth and power. These power seeking elves eventually created an underground city called the Underground. Little did they know that they were being prepared to fight a great evil? After 10,000 cyclones living in the dark their skin became darker and their mentality becomes evil. They now live on the surface for they had lost the Demon War and where forced to leave their city called the Underdark. As they don’t have a city to call their own they live amongst surface dwellers. They have adapted to seeing better in the darkness than in the light, and they rarely, if ever, venture up to the surface, for their eyes are sensitive to the light. Dark Elves characters are extremely intelligent, charismatic and dexterous, but share surface elves' comparative frailty and slight frames. Females tend to be bigger and stronger than males. They are characterized by white or silver hair, obsidian black skin, and red (or rarely gray, violet, or yellow) eyes, as well as innate spell powers and spell resistance. This is balanced by their weakness in daylight. As a race they are usually evil yet some become neutral evil on occasions. Minotaurs: Minotaurs are completely unlike and unrelated to the monsters whose name they share. They are one of the sub-races of the ogres, and although they are over seven feet tall with short red-brown to black fur covering massive muscles and horns, their faces, although reminiscent of bulls, are still humanoid. The horns of females may reach 12", and those of males are twice that long. To suggest to a Minotaur that he is in any way related to a cow is to insult him dreadfully (and thus to take your life in your hands). Minotaurs wear clothing, typically a harness and leather skirt. The harness generally carries weapons and battle decorations. Battle axes (usually double-edged) are the preferred weapon, although some use paired broad swords. They are unlimited as Fighters or Barbarians, and may be Rangers, Wizards of High Sorcery. Pixies: Pixies are usually rare in the lands of Bavidirian. Some occasionally escape their realm out of curiosity to see what is outside to explore. They are no larger then a human’s hand yet fly at extreme speeds that only elves can catch. One can always know when a pixie is near when a small buzzing is heard flying pass. They are at times mischievous, cunning, and usually are playful. They can be annoying to stubborn dwarves, hardy barbarians, and rough Minotaur’s. Although they are rarely seen they do attach themselves easily with elves to join groups. Pixies possess tremendous amounts of magic and are always eager to learn different types of magic available to them. Although most are good in alignment there is a small handful that do become neutral due to the interest of darker magical interests. Wood Elves: Descendants of high elves who decided to live the Islands of Silvernarion to seek the main lands forests. Eventually they they became to be known as the Wood Elves. Over time the forest's other inhabitants, spirits such as dryads, tree ents and sprites have come to accept the elves. The Wood Elves have learnt to wield bow mastery as a weapon and magical calling such as'tree-singing', which help establish great tree homes for them later. The Wood Elves cannot be described as morally 'good' or 'bad', lacking the clear definition of their cousins, the High Elves and Dark Elves. Like nature itself they can appear as fickle and capricious as the winter chill, yet also as warm as the summer sun. Half-Orc: Half-orcs are typically born in wild frontiers where human and orc tribes come into contact. Half-orcs are between six and seven feet tall and usually weigh between 180 and 250 pounds. Half-orcs have greenish skin, jutting jaws, prominent teeth and coarse body hair. Half-orcs have darkvision up to 60 feet. They have orc blood and are susceptible to special effects that affect orcs although orc's light sensitivity is almost always ignored by half-orc PCs due to its annoyance. They can use orc-only items. All half-orcs speak common and orc; they may also speak Draconic, Giant, Gnoll, Goblin, and Abyssal, and, in the rare cases of half-orcs with high intelligence, the languages of their allies or rivals. The orc language has no alphabet and uses Dwarven script. Orc writing is found most often in graffiti. The half-orc's favored character class is the barbarian. The half-orc personality tends to be short tempered, sullen, and prone to action rather than thought. Half-orcs prefer simple pleasures: feasting, singing, wrestling and wild dancing. They have no interest in refined pursuits such as high art and philosophy. Half-orcs tend towards chaotic alignments, but have no clear preference towards good or evil. Half-orcs raised and living among orcs are more likely to be evil. Centaur: A centaur has the upper body of a humanoid, and the lower body of a horse. They are usually unclothed, except for a quiver of arrows and, in rare occasions, light armor. Centaur warriors are usually equipped with composite longbows and longswords. Combining the traits of humans and horses, along with their affinity for wilderness survival, gives the centaur incredible strength, slightly less than twice the strength of an average human and the dexterity of an average elven archer. They are also known for their astounding ability to take much punishment, and for their wisdom. They are as fast on land as a horse (usually up to 2000 feet a minute when running), and like dwarves and orcs, they have darkvision. Their favored class is ranger. Vampire: the vampire is an undead creature. A humanoid or monstrous humanoid can become a vampire, and looks as it did in life, with pale skin, haunting red eyes, and a feral cast to its features. A new vampire is created when another vampire drains the life out of a living creature. A vampire can be of any evil alignment, and if its alignment was not evil in life it becomes so in undeath. A vampire retains all the abilities it had in life, plus it gains the ability to drain blood and life energy, and to dominate other creatures with its gaze. A vampire can also command rats, bats, and wolves, or take the form of those creatures. Email me the race you wish to represent. Also don't forget to give him or her a name. |
