Yes, Blackberries are actually as addictive as crack
(not that I've ever done crack, but you see where I'm going with this...) I have personally owned 4 different models of the Blackberry and have worked with several more in the past 5 years I've worked in IT. Either you love em or hate em... this thread is for the Blackberry lovers! Feel free to ask me questions about using a Blackberry as I have had tons of experience with them. For all you Verizon users waiting for a new blackberry (that doesn't completely suck like the Storm) here's something to get excited about: http://crackberry.com/blackberry9630review |

Agreed, my mom got one at work and I told her to take it back for another model.

Usually apps will continue to run on smaller version upgrades. 4.2 to 4.5 on the berry. I've been hesitant because I'm told it slows it down a bit and the non-native apps often (usually?) don't make it throught the upgrade. But the only one of those I'm worried about is my password keeper, keepass. Made a backup of my data and we'll see how it goes. |

Good luck with that, let me know how it goes.
I'm currently running 4.2.2.196 on the 8830 from Verizon but I don't think I'll do the OS upgrade as I hope to be replacing this device with a 9630 (which will be on 4.7) by the end of May ![]() |

LOL Well I'm hoping by the time they release this new 9630 they will have those issues worked out.

Do you guys use Blackberry Messenger? We can only use BB messenger internally because of of encryption decisions made on the install of the BES server years ago. I can only use the blackberry messenger with AES encryption. I'd change our default on the server, but I'm afraid it would cripple every blackberry on the network. Thankfully AT&T finally started allowing the yahoo messenger app to run on it's blackberrys. At least I can use that now. is 4.7 available for 8310? I didn't think it was. |

Ah yes I do believe we have had this discussion before. I wouldn't go making any changes to the BES server unless you schedule downtime with your company. Do you have support for your BES server? You can always call and ask them how that change will effect the rest of the users.
4.7 is what they are loading on all the new devices coming out. I don't think it is available for download on the older devices yet. |

Well, my upgrade went pretty smooth. Had an hourglass during the update that lasted about 10 minutes, but I had been warned to wait it out.
All of my 3rd party apps came over except for facebook. I think it came over too but there was no icon. When I reloaded it it asked me if I wanted to load over my old version. I just let it reload again. I do like the look of it and the ability to record video if I want to. |

Right on, sounds like it was pretty painless. |
