HISTORY OF THE LANDS OF BAVIDIRIAN ************************************************************ The Lands of Bavidirian was once nothing more then a vast wild land scattered with occasional wild beasts. Eventually, 400,000 cyclones** later the first settlers known as pixies arrived to enter this unexplored part of the world. These small flying creatures no larger then a human’s hand have settled near a specific tree for its magic had drawn their attention. This ancient oak tree now called Brombear the Wise carries powerful magical properties. Pixies drew closer to the tree as it willingly shared its secrets on magic to them. Queen Silvernarion leader of the pixies based her people in the woods and promised an oath to not allow any to bring harm to the sacred tree. It is rumored that Brombear the Wise is the balance that allows no alignment to have more power then the other. As time passed, many more races inhabitant the lands. High elves settled on the islands. Wood elves settled in the forests never to explore others. A human empire evolved expanding in various parts of the lands. Dwarves resided in the mountains looking for great riches. Hobbits built hill homes as they to never leave their shire. Gnomes entered in mass amounts to escape the turmoil’s and wars from their previous homelands. It is also rumored that in the deepest tunnels of the Dwanen Mountains live nasty creatures of the Undead or those that no one speak of called Demons. The high elves were the first to explore the Sacred Woods of Silvernarion and made peace with the pixies. They eventually united and learned the magical properties the ancient tree offered, but only if they in return would also provide protection to the tree. The first major war was when mystical beasts called harpies entered in mass amounts raiding on the eastern fronts of the lands. These beautiful shapeshifters who are a mixture of races have the ability to grow wings and fly seductively towards their victim to gain what is necessary for their survival. Since harpies can only bear female children they must find other races to mate in order to keep their kind alive. As they have immense beauty and the ability to extract a scent upon seducing their victim, they can hypnotize any male and make them helpless to fall under their spell. In the beginning this was not a problem, yet a hundred cyclones later many of the races began to get discouraged. Council meetings were held inviting other races to form alliances to find a solution to the problem of the mass amount of harpies raiding their homelands. It was the humans who first created special academies for females to become warriors specialized in fighting these powerful shapeshifters. Only female races attended them for they were immune to the odd spells of harpies. The war was long and enduring as eventually the harpies gave up their conquest and retreated away from the lands. Harpies can occasionally still be witnessed, yet the possibility is rare. This war was a big victory in the lands giving most of the credit to the humans who created these academies and to bring in a closer relation amongst other races. Dwarves, elves, and hobbits continued to enhance relations and formed an alliance to preserve order in the lands. Only rumors were whispered about what could be boiling in the deepest parts of the earth. Occasionally dwarven adventurers dared to explore the caverns where hobgoblins and goblins, orcs, as of other various beasts dwelled. These vile creatures enjoy the dead world of darkness. Some say those who died of unnatural causes become part of the undead in the deepest parts of the mountains and that demons would entertain themselves with the continuous torturing these unlucky souls must endure. It was not long when a mysterious wizard integrated himself with high elfin society and influenced a group of high elves to follow him into the caves where goblins and orcs lived. He promised wealth and power beyond imagination. The high elves disregarded the crazy wizard and told them the most powerful magic to exist lays in the Sacred Woods of Silvernarion. Discouraged at the humiliation the evil wizard summoned an army and tried to lay siege to the sacred woods. Pixies fought amongst the high elves with ferocity and had proven victory against the evil wizard known as Pythonian the Snake Lord. Brombear the Wise was scorched yet managed to survive the attacks and the balance of evil and good remains in place. Lord Pythonian disgusted retreated back to his cave where he still managed to bring a group of curious power seeking high elves to follow. They trained intensively with him and created academies both in combat and magic. They became powerful and grew into a community called the Dark Realm of Pythonian. It took another 50,000 cyclones before their skin began to turn darker and their hair lighter. They have also acquired other useful traits such as receiving great night vision. They became aggressive in nature and favored the personalities of creatures who lived way before them in the underground. Their interests grew stronger in search for more knowledge in fighting skills and the dark arts of magic. Little did they know that Lord Pythonian was planning yet another war. With the defeat on surface, he decided to seek power to rule the underworld by conquering the demons that lived in the deepest parts of the mountains. The day of reckoning had begun when Lord Pythonian gathered his forces to attack the demons and eliminate their existence forever, yet for some odd reason unknown in our history books, the evil lord disappeared. No one knows why or how it happened leaving the dark elves as of other loyal followers to wonder. The Demons however were awakened and they didn’t take the threat kindly. They united with the undead to fight those who opposed their dominion. The war was at a stalemate for over 1000 cyclones when eventually a demon of great powers emerged in the scene. The demon lord Mora’shi’tar managed to drive out everything out of the underground including their arch enemy dark elves that are now forced to now live amongst the surface dwellers. Today only a handful of dark elves survive in the Lands of Bavidirian and one is lucky to meet one if so. Times have changed as now the once strong empire of the Alliance is under threat by powerful leaders who oppose their laws and seek ways to rule the lands. Can the Alliance prevent this unbalance or has their order come to an end? |
