It's good to see you have filled out your profile, that's always a good start.
Regarding the messages you are sending out, try to make them a bit different/interesting/personal to the recipient. I know if I get a message saying "Hi, how are you" I am not likely to respond. It's harsh I know!

As for the pokes and nudges on here, very few people actually use them or respond to them. I don't really know why but there you go.

There are lots of threads on here that will give you tips on what works and what doesn't. Just don't give up too soon!!

I read profiles and try not to go by the pic (though there has to be some physical attraction!)

If there is a little info I will try to ask a question to get more out of them. If there is no info, then why bother. If a guy can't take the time to write a sentence or two, it doesn't give much hope for decent conversation through mails.

I think men do generally read my profile, going by the number that view it and don't message me. But I'm OK with that, saves us both some time.

Just waiting to find the one that sees enough in my profile to want to know more and get the hint that I'm not looking for casual fun (I'm not that subtle about it!)

Am I the only one annoyed that all women have been put into a generic group? I'm not getting my feminist hat out here, but surely you can't claim to understand women unless you have in fact met every woman alive and have managed to understand them all.

The understanding comes from knowing the individual and growing in knowledge about each other. This can (and will) change with time and circumstances.

It's not necessarily about accepting someone else either. That is a different topic entirely. I can accept somebody and not understand them and visa-versa.

If somebody claims to understand me I will likely laugh at them (hopefully with them) and say "You don't know the half of it bud!"

Watched Orphan last night. Wow!!

Psychological thriller. It didn't make me jump though there were only a few times I guessed what was going to happen next (that's usually my specialty) but hadn't worked out the ending at all (but it still made sense when you thought back). Definitely worth the watch.

Good cinematography and interesting use of camera angles gave the film an edge I enjoyed.
