I say go for it. I have a friend that I have known since first grade. He and I were always very attracted to one another, but too shy to do anything about it. Something happened, no fault or blame by either party, that we didn't talk for 20 or so years. I found him again in 2005 on classmates dot com.
We are best of friends again and there has been the same old feelings as before.
Don't pass on something and regret it by wondering forever. Wondering what might have been if only you had said or done this or that. That still makes me crazy about he and I today.
