It irritates me when people complain about the rising fuel cost and blame our President. I actually like him and feel he is doing a terrific job under the strain and pressure our nation is up against lately. He does a dandy fine job as a desicion maker in my book!!!! And if it were up to me no one would even be driving cars but bikes cause I hate cars! Who is w/ me??drinker drinker

While Dubya may not seem to be the most intellectually-sound president we've ever had, he alone isn't to blame for our current gas mess, as this is the result of a number of years of neglectful politics on the part of BOTH political parties.

For example- It was (ex) President Clinton who signed legislation to raise speed limits across the U.S. to 65 MPH (and even more in other parts of the country), which was done to counteract the lowered speed laws enacted during the Reagan administration.

And WHY did Reagan lower speed limits to begin with, you ask? To lower our consumption of fuel, of course- faster speeds translate to more fuel consumption, especially when larger vehicles as SUVs are involved.

By raising the speed limit, Clinton put us on the fast track to higher fuel prices, vehicle-born pollution, and higher fuel consumption. Of course, if you were to ask him about his speed limit laws, he'd probably try to back-track and deny he even signed said laws to begin with...

... much like he did when he signed NAFTA, which is also responsible for our current situation regarding to unemployment and such. Despite the fact he there is news footage of him signing it (as well as several changes to the GATT treaty, which paved the way for our current trade debacle with China), he flat out DENIED ever signing both pieces of legislation. But this is to be expected from a lawyer, right?

In short, it's not one specific president to blame for our troubles- our current route is made possible by several decades of shoddily-written legislation and poorly-negotiated trade agreements that have done nothing but benefit the corporate world. And both Democrats AND Republicans are to blame for our mess- Dubya (while he DOES look rather goofy at times) is simply the person who is in the Oval Office at the time, so he will get a majority of the heat...

... as will the next president (whether it be Obama or McCain) who steps into the office come the next election.

LOL!!! Dude your in California and ur blaming the speed limit...Are you ok???huh

Quite fine, thanks. Keep in mind that the speed limit laws are NATIONAL, not just in the Peoples' Republic of California. laugh

LOL!!! So your blaming high speed limits 65 mph on why the gas is so high...las time I checked the speed limits were the same in 2000,2001,2002,2003,2004,2005,2006,2007,& 2008....So now how do u explain $4.04 for regular gasoline?
