This afternoon I began to put together a roast – by the influence of another Mingler, I must admit. I readied the meat and began to peel potatoes. Everything was going fine until I came across a potato that was a bit withered, a bit splotchy, and a bit odd-wrinkled at the ends. My first thought was to discard the potato and move on to another – however curiosity became the better of me and I began to peel away the skin; only to discover the potato was a potato without flaw underneath. This reminded me that most people (there as exceptions – don’t get me wrong) might appear flawed on the outside or may not meet someone's perception of normal or standard – but those people, like the potato, are no different on the inside than the next person. This was not the same when I got to the carrots. Withered, splotchy and soft/flimsy carrot = Withered, splotchy and soft/flimsy carrot on the inside as well…. If only we knew who was a potato and who was a carrot when we first meet someone .
