’Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

“Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!”

He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought—
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.

And as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! and through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.

“And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!”
He chortled in his joy.

’Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

Well, like Session 9 ... I could well tolerate and even thrilled to it ...

And you said it was one of the most disturbing you'd seen, or something like that ...

Guess, I don't get me then ...

When that sorta film and Shining really turned me on w/ suspense and thought provoking hit ...

Yanno???

Seemed odd to me that ya can get w/ such hardcore and yet find Session 9 disturbed ...

Perhaps as is usually the way ... I don't understand my own limits, yet, being so drawn to some really quite dark films ...

Also, newly aded:

A Single Man -

love ... Lawdy, I loved it!!! Directed by Tom Ford and as if all his years in film just knew the right ingredients for a melodic, whimsical full view into a life, yet captured in one day of that existence!

It is sooooooo lean and clean a meditation: at once wistful, sobering, lamenting, gutting, rejoicing, drunken and embracing ... raw and complete!

I felt as if I myself had been explained and washed clean ... Ready for the departuring taxi down yon runway ...

Oh, and doesn't hurt that the cast is stellarrrific superb - PERFECT!

BIG thumbs up ...

Sidebar: I found one 'mechanical flaw' ... But that would be a spoiler ... "We'll tawk, after ya see it!"

Inception just joined my list ... KILLER GOOD!!!

Here's my lil break down from "Recent Films" thread:

 ... Inception ... drinker

Oh, my Hells YEAH - I absolutely LOVED it!!! I'm thinking it is somehow right outta the "Best of Twilight Zone" vault, yes??? What a superb film ... If ya find yourself in need a serious thriller fix? Settle in for quite a ride w/ this jewel, perhaps somewhat described as this millenia's new Matrix.

It is both figuratively and quite literally bursting at the seams in its multi-layered storytelling ... w/ so much flavourful texture and delectable nuance. It is popping w/ fresh creativity and the provoking of the deepest impressions, thought and feelings ... It so perfectly performs the dissection of the phenomena that we call dreams!

What if you could enter a dream, know you are dreaming and knowingly enter a dream w/in that dream, and so on ... What if you could architect the design in hopes of truly becoming monarch of all you survey? You would be at the intersection of Inception and ... ??? Who or what would be the legendary 'ghost in the machine'? How will you ever again know dream time from realtime? What is real time ... and when exactly is it, again? This baby delivers! Can't wait to dream tonight *Kate licks her whetted lips*

That said ... Do not think to see on DVD, CInema ONLY - The power will NOT translate to a telly screen or sound system! Also ... If you think you do not fancy classical, symphony and such? Remind yourself while watching this how very much just such orchestration drives the majority of great films, setting and defining the tone and your involvement in the movie, classics right up to the present! I loved how much this flic was pushed to excellence via the film score!

Oh! Also ... I just cannot even imagine a better cast ... think ... My hat's off to the casting dept .... STELLAR CAST - perfect!!!

Edit: Sidebar: Anyone else note the scene that could have been taken right off the 'Shutter Island' editing room floor? Heheheee ... laugh

Hear ya on the Zen ... I'm a great foreign film zone type, Venus ...

Yeah, it's weird, Torgo ...

LOVE the hit I got w/ many of the films deemed in others "3 Most Disturbing" list ...

(Clockwork Orang, Shining, etc, etc ... Majority of those cited)

Even, "Natural Born Killers" is a solid fav ...

There's like a cliff though ...

The ones that just go/went to far ... Like Hannibal and Wolf Creek ...

I can't imagine how one doesn't run in terror in those like "SAW" ...

Guess I'll keep wondering ... Hmmmmmmmmmm ...

I love foreign films as well...In fact my all time fave film is Himalaya. flowerforyou

Venus ... Go find my "Alltime Fav Films" thread and share w/ the class ...

It has become an amazing group collection ... ;-)

Hang on ... I'll go find it and bump it ... @-->-----

LOVE the original "The Haunting" ... I don't consider that horror, though!???

But it is horror and it's considered a horror classic along with films like The Innocents, and Nosferatu, and Bride Of Frankenstein...

Yeah, yeah, yeah ... BUT ... You get my question is not about the classics that are so tame considered to the gore of today ...

I'm tallkin' the gore and torture ones ...

How do ya handle it ... I can't even look ... Much less imagine ...

My psyche gets soooooo assaulted ... Lil bit of my soul gets lost ...

They say the subconscious cannot discern any images scene as not being real ...
