Well, I can immidiately count three successful ldr, two between members of this site. One of these couples is married for about a year now - he moved to a different continent from America. The second one is arranging the papers and stuff. Eric knows both of these couples too. The third couple is from my own family. My aunt more than 45 years ago moved accros the Europe to marry my uncle. 45 years ago, that means no videos, no chat, no emails, no skype, no cell phones no internet whatsoever. They've met first however on vacation - one afternoon, they didn't even know each other's language. They were more gasticulated. Exchanged addresses, he sent her the dictionary and they began to exchange letters, simple snail mail.
They did have obstacles, not between them however. Just the surroundings, language barrier, even families but they had something powerful. Dedication, communication, will to make it, decision - and love. They got married after 2years and even after 45 years they still love each other just as before. And they could also say in the beginning it's too much work. I think we talk about love, want it, but the main question is what are we willing to do for it. And not only in ldr. What does it matter if they live door to door next to you, without this will. It would be all in vain |
