I've figured out what aliens are and why they're here -- no, not the
ones from Mexico -- the other ones.

This inspired by a thread I just saw, and in other conversations...

The thread was asking why people "front." Well, I presume that word was
taken from the phrase "put up a front," yes?

And there are several other "watered-down" versions of words and
phrases. Even in Internetspeak, everything's becoming an acronym, isn't
it?

Well, my theory is pretty soon we'll all be talking in nothing BUT
acronymns...to hell with real "words" -- cuz that's such a waste of
time!

And we all know that aliens communicate telepathetically, right?

Eventually, we'll also do away with the acronyms, then we'll start
grunting and pointing at things, or using symbols -- yeah, Prince was
way ahead of his time with that, but, personally, I think he's one of
*them* anyway -- to communicate with each other.

And, little by little, (in varying degrees) we'll all start
communicating telepathically, and that's when we become one of "them."

Can't believe it took me nearly 49 years to figure this out.

(Hey, what can I say? Sometimes these things just pop up in my
brain...and 'The Martian Chronicles' *was* one of my favorite books).

It's all a matter of personal opinion anyway, isn't it? I mean, one
person could say the outfit makes her "look fat," and another person
could say, no, it doesn't make her "look fat."

Some people think anything over a size 8 is "fat." So..."honesty" does
not equate to "fact."

No, I'm not; I'm disputing it.

It's not exactly the same way because, after a failed attempt,
adjustments are made based on that information.

These are thought out adjustments. if no adjustment was made, because it
is being insisted that it must work, then it's insane!

It may be "illogical," but it's definitely not "insane."

And, actually, the term is a legal one, not a medical one. The legal
profession considers insanity to be the determination of whether or not
a person is mentally capable of being held responsible for their
actions.

The psychiatric profession determines "insanity" based on a number of
different criteria, such as various levels of psychoses, etc.

again, though...regardless of that, that is still not the "clinical"
definition of "insanity"...it isn't how psychiatrists make the
determination of whether or not a person is "insane."

Like I said, it would be impossible to shoot the basket in EXACTLY the
same way.

Same holds true for anything you attempt to do. It may appear to be
doing it in the same way, but there are always at least slight
variations.

You're standing at the free-throw line, trying to shoot a basket. You
shoot -- and miss -- say, 20 times in a row. On the 21st try, you make
the basket.

Granted, there are slight changes in the way you shoot but, in doing
*anything*, nothing you do is EVER going to done in "exactly" the same
manner. But basically, you're employing the same methods in order to
make the basket. You stand, you aim, you shoot. Sometimes you make it,
sometimes you don't.

To do something over and over again and expect the same results might
have been, in Einstein's mind, an "insane" thing to do, but it is
certainly not the psychiatric profession's definition of "insanity."

Actually you have a point..because "normal" is defined as what is the
"norm" for a particular society's behavior.

For instance, in some remote areas it's considered "normal" to be a
cannibal. But just try ordering "people" at a restaurant here and see
what happens.
