my computer is built for media so I donno ? I dont know what fire wire is , phone future shop an ask I am not saying BUY one at future shop but ask questions there

I dont know what fire wire is , phone future shop an ask I am not saying BUY one at future shop but ask questions there this pc is 5 years old.....its still good but I wanna make videos.....Im thinking should I install firwire for $100 or just buy a new one because eventually I will need one.....orrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr my son's pc is about a year old....prolly has all the stuff I need to upload...... wheeeeeeeeels turning here.....
