No longer have the luxury of staying home with my kids. Found daycare. Problem is finding a job that pays more than minimum wage. After 9 yrs of being home I don't have exp. with anything anymore. And being the only one supporting us...any ideas?? Thanks

(and you do have experience.. you have child care experience, problem resolution experience, etc. Just think about what you've done for the last few years. Experience doesn't necessarily have to come from a job. You haven't been doing nothing! Just market yourself well )

the best advice I can give to anyone out there looking for a job, from a GM standpoint. Do NOT call places to see if they are hiring. Get out there, be well dressed, neat and clean, and put in applications. I have little tolerence for people that call instead of come in and fill out applications. You need to show the initive. Good luck to you. Also, don't go out there feeling you are over qualified or to good to do some jobs. Apply for everything you can, if you are good, you will move up quickly. Everyone needs a starting point.

if you are looking for a career start by going to a assistant living home there everywhere you dont need a licence start there and they will direct you on how to become a cna certify nurses assitance that only takes about 4weeks of school in a nursing home and there is your money later futher in medical frield later most nursing homes will pay for your class at ther expense and give you a job then your in they get grants later for lpn these jobs will always be in need of good luck

Go through a staffing service - they should give you a skills test and they should have clients that will take people like yourself on an entry level basis. That way you can start building some experience and recent work history. Be sure not to go to a day labor type setup - those pay min wage most of the time and work is NOT consistent.

Your best friend is a good education. Do what you can to acquire one. I know it's hard. I was a single parent working full-time and taking a full load of classes, but it paid off.
