Topic: Soldier, Soldier ~ For Geo ~ | |
---|---|
Soldier, Soldier in the night will
you give your Soul tonight? Yes, I see your giving light. I embrace you in your personal plight. You used to know why you fought. Now you're confused, and distraught. You watch your comrades end their lives. Will you have children and a wife? That little girl that haunted you, she was young, but not a fool. You were ordered not to stop that tank. She ran behind you, terrorized; her little face, hardly blank. She saw the compassion in your eyes; she wept with sorrow as you silently moved on and said goodbye. You couldnt take her in your arms; you left her standing under the stars. Yet she knew you loved her in your heart. She knew your Souls would never part. Sleep dear soldier, this child had you in a moment of gruesome truth. Shell remember you despite her youth. Shes embedded in you, like a cherished tattoo. She had you and you had her; she saved you too, during your tour. JDS 05/26/08 |

very nice is that writen from a movie the scene seems familar Ty. No, it's not from a movie. It's a real life event that happened to a friend of mine who was in Iraq. |

Different, but a nice story as well. Good one for a Memorial Day poem. Either way, your words tell it like it is or should be.
