MASON, Ohio An automated message system told parents of a large explosion at a southwest Ohio elementary school, sending moms and dads into a panic before officials could clarify that it was all just a drill. The Mason School District outside Cincinnati had informed parents last week that there would be a disaster drill on Tuesday, but they didnt name the school where the drill would take place. After receiving the first message Tuesday afternoon, about 100 parents hurried toward Mason Heights Elementary before a second message could be sent with the clarification. http://www.toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080528/NEWS24/177464625 -------------------------------------------------- Enjoy that conditioning, courtesy of the DHS. |

That is really messed up. I know this other school where they told the students there would be a mock test, well one day an armed gunman suddenly busts into class and everyone absolutely freaks out. Praying, pleading for their lives. Yep, just a test by your friendly school board. Sheesh.

I've heard of a couple of these, you wanna talk about terrorism, watch a fully armed swat team complete with K-9 units rush into a middle school screaming, yelling, pointing their weapons and putting those dogs on point at the students and staff, then watch the reaction of the kids, who have no idea that it's just some damn drill.
There's a case of this, in Pennsyvania, I think, where they did this exact kind of thing and it freaked some 14 year old kid out so bad he ended up spending alot of time in a psych ward, because it scared him so bad he went catatonic. This is an example of what all the terrorism/National securtiy bullcrap has brought us and frankly these kinds of things make me angry. |

We had one of these when I was in highschool in 2000, but it was made sure that EVERYONE knew what was going down before it did. It's been going on before real threat of foreign and domestic terrorism (though school shootings could be considered a domestic terror incident, it's more likely a current or former student related and thus in different spectrum) |

Well, the fearmongering of this administration should be enough but I guess not, lets scare the sh*t out of the kids and parents at a more real down to home level.
I would file a law suit it I was one of those parents. That is undue trauma. |

Exploding school? That sounds like a terror drill to me in this case, but I think the one in Pennsylvania was actually a Drug war drill. It is a fact though, that schools that allow these drills are receiving federal funding and the schools are desperate to get any money that they can, I've read about cases where schools are threatened to have funding yanked if they don't allow these sort of things. I could think of 100 things that the people running these programming drills could be doing that would actually benefit the citizenry. How about we start with protecting our borders and go from there. |
