On Friday I was invited to a friend's party that I didnt know very well.
But at this party I met two friends of the hostess named Kelly &
Natalie. Spent several hours chatting, laughing, talking about some
overlapping business stuff, and playing good-ol-quarters with people who
circulated through our table.

At the end of the party, as we're all getting up to leave, Kelly gives
me her business card, saying 'email me'. A moment later her & Natalie
say "...we're headed downtown, gonna grab something to eat - if you're
headed that way do you want to get a cab with us?". As it was, I was
headed the other way - back to NJ. "Nah thanks though."

I missed my NJ train by literally seconds. I pulled out Kelly's card,
and called - left a message "Hey, where'd ya go to eat - if its close by
I'd like to join you - gimme a call my number is xxxxxx". Well, it was
her work phone number (duh, she had given me her business card after
all). And I guess she wasnt going to get it until Monday.

On Monday, I hadnt heard from her, and sent a "hi - it was fun meeting
you guys friday..." kind of email. Today being Wednesday, I still didnt
hear from her. I deliberated: should I send another email? Or should I
accept it as a 'blow-off' Or, should I email again, but this time use my
work email because many corporations spam-can any incoming email from
HOTMAIL.COM (as my original email was)?

I was thinking "nah, that sounds desperate". Then that gnawed at me for
awhile. So I sent an email that said something like:

"SUBJECT: I didnt hear back, had hoped that I would.

BODY: On the chance that you didnt get my msg, I pasted it below. If you
dont wish to reply I wont bother you any further. ...."

Whats your thoughts? Did I come across as weird/desperate? Was the tone
OK? Wrong? Polite? Did I miss the "blowoff"? Or is all too unknown to
classify? Should I have not emailed the 2nd time? Should I have?
...should I have waited longer? ---- whats your thoughts?

see, now you're groveling.
she might've just been busy.
or playing hard-to-get.
personally,
i would've considered that message a turn-off.
you sound too desperate.

I don't think it was bad. why do people give out business cards if she
didn't want to hear from you?
did you asks her for it?
did you ask hey where you guys going from here?
now Monday the kids didnt have school here.
so maybe she didnt have work...

Good point Catch, hard to tell on that one. A follow-up message might
not be a bad idea. If she gave the card without prompting I would think
she wanted contact. And, she could just be busy, maybe give her until
Thursday or Friday and then e-mail, just in case she has been busy????

If you asked for the card, not sure how to handle, guess a follow-up
e-mail still, then just let it die if she doesn't respond.

You've done what can do. And, you did what she asked you to do. Now,
wait it out.
Whatever you do, don't worry about it! It'll eat at you and depress
the hell out of ya!smokin Just my opinion.drinker

Yeah but what i dont get is if she wasn't interested she wouldn't have
given you her card. Maybe shes got a boyfriend or a husband or
something....sounds fishy to me... I wouldn't consider it to be a blow
off , cause maybe shes just a ***** in the first place for leading you
on like that...

Cool - everything posted was exactly the thoughts i was wondering.

Some of you asked "did you ask for her info?" and the answer is "no" -
she offered it to me without my mentioning of it. We were all sitting
around talking & laughing for 3 or 4 hours.

Oh well... maybe one day I'll run into her again. I dont plan to call
her or follow it up any further - marked it as a 'blow-off'
