Police make arrest in pizza burn case
PINE BUSH, N.Y., June 11 (UPI) -- Police in Pine Bush, N.Y., have arrested a restaurant owner suspected of making a too-spicy pizza that was anonymously delivered to a pair of activists. Villa Gaudio owner Frank Gaudio was arrested and accused of baking a pizza that was loaded with hot sauce and delivered to two women at a Pine Bush school board meeting, The Times-Herald Record in Middletown, N.Y., reported Wednesday. Sources said police also plan to arrest former school board member Joe Zankl, who allegedly ordered the tainted pizza. Two pizzas were delivered to Connie Squillace and Patti Brown at a December school board meeting. The deliveryman would not say where the pizzas were from, but a note accompanying pies was addressed to Squillace. It read, "Don't eat these pizzas all at once," an apparent reference to her weight. Squillace did not eat any of the pizza, but Brown bit into a slice. "The victim received chemical burns," Senior Investigator Brian Meier said. "The pizza was baked to incur a lot of heat," Meier said. "The investigation revealed it was ordered by someone with special instructions on how to make it hot." http://www.politicalgateway.com/news/read/153189 |
