PORT ST. LUCIE - If ads for cheap prescription drugs and pornography weren't bad enough, four residents in St. Lucie County have reported being victims of an e-mail ''hit man.''

The sheriff's office reports that the messages are sent from unidentifiable sources. One e-mail from ``Mr. G. Hord'' at axakiller.com, claims he was hired by an acquaintance of the recipient to kill him.

As part of what authorities are calling a scam, the ''hit man'' later changes his mind. The scammer then demands a payoff and promises evidence of who hired the killer.

Authorities say no one has been injured, but anyone who receives a similar message should contact law enforcement.
