Hey Everyone!! Been out of touch lately, as we lost my Dad on the 26th of June. Just now getting back to "normal".

Glad to see you back, Greer. You were missed. Last year I made it without an air conditioner. This year I am doing the same thing. Saw a good one though at Walmart with a remote control on it. Sorry to hear you lost your dad. I remember when I lost mine. Yeah, "normal". What a word to try to describe. I try sometimes to bury myself in work sometimes but this morning I was glad to see reinforcement coming in. She is young and is trying to make extra money. I was glad she came in as I was exhausted. The new shoes really made a difference. Last night I was so sleepy at work. One of our residents just came back from the psycho ward. She asked me what I was doing laying on the mattress beside her bed so she can't roll out. I told that I was just taking a rest. She thought I was in bed with her. Yesterday was the first day I ever saw a toilet alarm. We have one resident who has an alarm on her bed; One in her wheelchair; One in her lazy boy chair and now one under her toilet seat. She is adjusting to the madness very well. She said they make her feel more secure like the guard rails on both sides of her bed.

Roy, Have you figured out what "normal is, yet? I
need to know so I can explain it to my mom every
day(azheimers, you know)!!

Have a hard time with it myself. One of our residents we had to keep the toilet paper away from her. She thinks it is food. She thought the denture tabs were candy. Another resident thought the body alarms were bones. She thinks she is a dog. One resident the same age as me thinks she is a small girl and is so happy when her daddy comes to visit her. Since Alzheimers tend to forget what is told to them you might think it doesn't matter what you tell them because a little later they will ask the same question. I have one resident that I don't ask questions to because he gets lost in the question. All you can really do is show them love and human compassion. So far all the ones I deal with do respond to compassion. Even if this one still tells me to get out of her room after she is done with me.

You Sound like you love your job. It takes a special person to do what you do. I know, because I worked in a home myself. Had to quit, because it was like losing my grandparents all over again.

I am trying to feed the puppies dried milk. My first attempt failed because the momma dog was there. As I lowered the bowl of milk she tried to drink it. I wasn't trying to teach the momma dog to drink milk. So I took the momma dog outside and gave her some dog food. The first puppy who is white with a brown dot on its head I put his head in the milk and as he came up he ran off. The second puppy who is white and has gray on its ears licked his lips but still ran off. The black puppy I didn't even have to stick his nose in he just started drinking the milk. The brown puppy I stuck his nose in took a drink but walked off. The black puppy is still drinking and the brown puppy noticed that and came back to drinking, too. I think the black puppy is the smartest of the puppies.

It is just the reverse for me, Greer. It is like I have a whole bunch of grand parents to be with. I just love being around them. It is a byproduct of the grief that I had to go through. It allowed me to realise that I have the gift to help others because I have experienced grief myself.

Got a bunch of the yard mowed. It took a while with the thick grass due to all the rain we had. The blackberries are ripening. Lost another puppy last night. Glad to hear we are going to get a raise at work. Hopefully it will help more aides from quitting.

honestly,i'm the same way with animals.for some reason i actually feel like i connect with them in a way.i have never had a dog try to attack me.each dog or cat that i've ever been around has became a friend to me.it's kind of weird but i like the feeling and i try to help any animal that i can

Last night one of the residents gave me some advice about the puppies. She told me to get the puppies some goat's milk. She told me even if the momma dog has dried up that goat's milk is just as good even for puppies that haven't been weaned yet. The three puppies are still alive. I have been praying and have been contacted by the people I am giving the puppies to. The surviving puppies are being shipped out this weekend. Evidently since cow's milk can give the puppies worms the goat's milk doesn't.

Glad Robin and Maddie were with me, today. One of the residents who just left the other day wanted us to deliver his chair to Hilltop Nursing Home where he moved to. His wife gave Robin a 20 and me a 20 plus 10 bucks for gas. Robin hauled the recliner in her Chevy S10 and about the area of Pyatt the recliner tilted over. I was ahead of her with the car and she had said that I drive slow. So I had the car up to about 65 and left her in the distant back of me. I had noticed that a car had pulled behind her and thought she was talking to a friend. He had a rope and had the recliner tied down before I could turn around after I noticed that lead foot wasn't catching up with me.laugh Robin had noticed a portie pottie that would be good for the nursing home but ran across another one of those beautiful state rules of it has to decided on by the nursing home. I told Robin just to buy something for Maddie. Robin is so frustrated and was even going to buy the portie pottie with her own money. This morning at the Hilltop restaurant the waitress who ususally gives me a hug asked Robin if it was okay for her to give her man a hug indicating me. Robin said she didn't care because all of the other aides at the nursing home hug me. I am beginning to think I have a relationship of convenience. It is kind of like a relationship anyways.laugh
