Blind Lemon Jefferson, Robert Johnson, Blind Boy Fuller.......
Also, a little-known, unrecorded, unphotographed, Alabama street singer named Rufus Payne (a.k.a. Tee-Tot)must've been a helluva blues man; he taught a kid named Hank Williams the blues back in the 30's...... (and if you don't think Hank Williams was a blues singer, you really need to examine or re-examine his work). |

Hi.....I just wanted to make it clear that the "you" I'm addressing in the last sentence of my previous entry here is the collective "you" -
it's not directed at any one person. |

u sure seem 2 no ur blues. hank williams & thousands of others r actually blues artists but the average nonblues person wouldnt realize that. so many people are narrow minded, when it comes to everything not just music. do u play an instrument? i sang briefly yrs ago. unfortunately, it was a garage top 40 band. no thanx. i'm blues, r&b, soul & country all the way.

Since I was the guy who mentioned Hank Williams, I'm guessing this was directed to me. Yes, I sing and play the guitar. "Lovesick Blues" was the song that made me teach myself how to play when I was 11. A few years ago, I was playing a lot of alt.-country solo gigs in a then-exploding coffeehouse scene. And thanx to a lot of Internet exposure, I was known as "The Angry Cowboy of Alternative Country." I almost got to open a show for Hank Williams III four years ago, but the venue screwed it up at the last minute. But, yeah I know my blues, I've lived the blues. |
