Leiberman is a moderate DEM who turned independant but he does vote with DEMS most of the time. He just isn't as fanatical as the lefties in the party. He parts with DEMS in that he is a hawk when it comes to national defense. A few other things too.

Alot fo the good guys are no longer around. I thought the world of Sam Nunn. There were quite a few DEMS who got out...left office. They saw the writing on the wall.

I remember what Reagan said...he was a democrat until the party left him. When the party no longer represents your postions what do you do?
