Topic: NRO questions McCain | |
---|---|
Here is a real gem from the National Review Online (for those that don't know this is a conservative site) by David Frum's Diary.
Conservatives like the NRO and Rove are pointing out McCain's flip-flops and questioning his truthfulness along with his VP nominee. Looks like intelligent conservatives are seeing what a mess McCain is. I can only hope some of the others start thinking about what and who he actually is soon. " McCain's campaign is chock-full of phony contradictions; how is he supposed to bring "safe change" since this year he has essentially promised to reverse all the anti-Bush policies that made him a "maverick" in the first place? He has just squandered the single best reason for voting for him by choosing an almost totally inexperienced "celebrity" as his running mate. Foreign policy excepted, can you tell me what McCain's governing philosophy is? He has changed positions on numerous occasions times during the past ten years, going from being one of the most centrist GOP senators to one of the most conservative ones. Or is it all merely a Romney-esque cynical ploy to fool conservatives to vote for him, since he will anyway have to work with Reid/Pelosi to get anything done... Who is more trustworthy: the young unapologetic liberal who promises real change or the old guy who is running against reality?" |

All I know is coming from and area where MIA/Pow families once clustered during VietNam and being from that Era I am not impressed with the number of McCains peers (other POW's included) that are not impressed with him and told me so directly. Anyone that affiliated with Bush and his Halliburton supported VP makes my stomache turn. I think he is like a neurotic sweetheart with a trunk full of baggage and should be taken with a large dose of documenting the facts and great caution. Doesn't make me a rageing supporter for the other candidate but this round may be picking the lesser of the ineffectual leaders who have gotten us into catestrophic problems from a faultering standard of living and a dismal economic future for at least another decade by doing little to solve problems or develope opportunities to find solutions except talk and spend a lot of money on campaigns that most of us would not directly give them if it wasn't tacked on to things we need.
