Topic: Mutual Match Question

Recently, I have received several Mutual Match candidates who I know must have rated me a YES or a MAYBE because they come from outside my search parameters. However, none of these people show up as having viewed my profile -- and it's clear that they certainly haven't read it! -- or didn't understand it, anyway, if they did read it.

So I'm wondering how does one go about selecting someone for Mutual Match without actually doing it from their profile?

Or is this something that would be done while in "Stealth Mode"? So it wouldn't show up as a profile view, but they have been there?

I'm thinking people are matching with me based on my pic because my profile clearly says friends only.I viewed you:tongue:

I think it's just Mingle sending out potential
matches. I don't think it has anything to do with them viewing your profile.

That's not how Mutual Match is supposed to work, though. It requires one party to express an initial interest in the other, to which the other then responds with a YES or NO or MAYBE.

I don't think you have to go to M.M on mingle2.When a person looks at your profile,At the end.It has a place that ask if you wao't to match with this person. So I would think that they read your profile.biggrin

you don't have to view the profile to match

See, that's what I was thinking too. But they weren't showing up as having viewed the profile, so the only thing that made sense was that they were viewing the profile in Stealth Mode. Which defeats the purpose of using Stealth Mode because, if this is the case, I would now be able to figure out that they read my profile anyway, if they matched from there. It doesn't make sense to me. Why use Stealth Mode and then unstealth yourself?

I've never used Stealth Mode myself -- I rarely look at profiles anymore, and I really don't care if the ones I look at are aware of it or not....

Thats why I click no if they don't read my profile. And I agree,If they can't show themselves,They are not worth my time. J.M.O.Even in Stealth Mode I have noticed that if you click when they are vewing you,you can see them. Then they disapear when they are done.I think this site still has some bug to work out.frustrated frustrated bigsmile

I am guessing here, I would have to imagine that if the person viewed you in stealth mode then clicked the "dont know what to say, MM with them" option, it wont show that they viewed your profile. Again just guessing here.

Keep in mind that one does not even have to open a profile in order to be Mutually Matched with another. When accounts are being presented on the following page, one can act on the potential match without opening the full profile (as we give a profile summary on the page).

Charles, let me see if I get this. I get people in my Mutual Match candidates every day -- the vast majority are people in my area, and I'm operating under the assumption that they show up as candidates because they fit into my geographic and other criteria.

These people do not need to have viewed my profile, because they are within all required MM search parameters and are then just shown as possible picks. They have not had to do anything to show up in the list.

BUT -- and here's the part I don't get -- I sometimes get people who are completely outside of my settings -- say, Wyoming or Georgia or something -- who show up in the MM candidates. My understanding of this is that the only way this happens -- people outside the settings showing up on your list -- is if they have already rated you a YES or MAYBE. There is some sort of a "distance override" that kicks in. I could be wrong about that, but that's the only scenario that makes sense to me.

OK, so someone from Wyoming or Georgia has rated me a YES or a MAYBE, but there are only two ways I can see this happening --

1.) Stealth Mode was involved, or

2.) Maybe their search parameters are broader than mine, and I showed up as a candidate on their MM list? In that case, if they picked me from that page, it would not show up as a profile view, I assume -- as you mentioned in your post....

Or am I missing something else here?

Lex, I'm fairly sure that scenario 1 is what is going on. If the user is in Stealth mode, she can click the 'Match with Him' button in your profile. That would account for certain ladies being out of your geographic range.

OK, thank you! It makes sense, it just confused me there for a little while!

My pleasure... it confuses me on a daily basis.
