Tonight the debate will be occurring 15 minutes from me.
I wish I could go.grumble

I wanted to make the Obama/Biden rally but I already had a commitment.

Many streets have been closed since 9:00 a.m.

3,000 people from the media are here.

Helicopters are flying over my house.

I went to get frozen custard (like ice cream) at a popular place here. You eat the custard standing outside.

When I went to place my order, I saw a newspaper article taped to the window. It was about McCain being there about two months ago.

Yep, this town a-buzzing with politics tonight.

I remember when Clinton did his train campaign.

It was the best ever excuse for being late to work. I live in the country and the train track lay between me and my workplace. the train was running late so I was delayed longer than they'd expected. So there I was held up by government agents at a rural crossing. I got out and chatted with the officers, had a cup of coffee and waved to the train as it passed.

My boss was amused saying only I could be detained, out in the middle of the country, by federal agents.

That's funny - you were held by federal agents.laugh

That's quite an occurrence for the country, isn't it?

haah Yeah, it was no big deal. My actions might have looked odd. Going into the small town where the train was about to, I beleive pause, I saw traffic(if you can call what we have here traffic) stopping then remembered the Clinton whistle stop.

So I drove parallel to the tracks back out of town attempting to go for the first rural crossing ahead of the train. I might have been speeding just a little because I figured I would be late to work.

I imagine my actions could have appeared suspicious.

I didn't mind being stopped. I hated my job so any delay in getting there was fine by me.

Wish one of the candidates would come through this area. Kerry did last time only if it was to change from his train to a bus to go on to Vegas.

The old "whistle stop campaigns" have been replaced by the media barrage of commercials. That is a shame.

Know you wanted to be there Winx -- bad. bigsmile
