Topic: Attacks Get Personal as Campaign Calendar Ticks Down | |

WASHINGTON: The McCain campaign's linkage of Barack Obama and questionable characters has been described by the Democratic presidential candidate as the same "Swift boat" attacks as in 2004.
FOXNews.com Sunday, October 05, 2008 Sarah Palin on Sunday defended her charge against Barack Obama that he is "palling around with terrorists," upping the ante in the latest go-around with the Democratic presidential candidate over his ties to questionable characters. Obama, who has held a statistically significant lead against John McCain in more than a week of Gallup daily tracking polls, said Sunday he won't be distracted by Republicans trying to tear him down. In remarks to voters, Obama said the personal attacks against him from the GOP camp are "smears without substance. He declined to address his own campaign's latest gambit of calling McCain "erratic" and "dishonest." Obama said the country faces many crises, but instead of focusing on them, McCain plans to "turn the page on the discussion about our economy and spend the final weeks of this campaign launching Swift boat-style attacks on me." It's gonna get ugly, but just remember it's manufactured. If they had allowed even one other voice into the debates, we'd be listening to important issues and not have to worry about the access hollywood/High school class president version of an election.

I'm sick of the mud-slinging also. I just wonder if both candidates are doing this to avoid talking about the real issues, like the economy, jobs, health care, etc. |

It's not manufactured? So McCain and Obama didn't strike up a deal, which is being kept from the American public, to set up the debates and exclude other voices?
I would reckon that more and more Americans are wanting to hear about real issues, especially seeing as how their dollar can't buy 15 cents of real assets anymore and is going to get worse. This is entirely manufactured, they'll get into some pathetic arguement about nothing and by the time the debate is over, the economy will have sank a few hundred more points. |

it would be nice if the real issues were put on the table,
some things were revealed in the debate tonight, not much, but some |
