Schools not allowing students to mention Obama

Updated: Nov 8, 2008 10:04 PM

PUCKETT, MS (WLBT) - More complaints from parents who say school officials will not allow students to talk about President-Elect Barack Obama.

Melissa Hayes says teachers at Puckett Attendance Center told her daughters they could not talk about Obama in class or in the hallways.

Her daughters, 15 and 18, told Hayes the principal says students can only mention Obama in history class Hayes says she called the school district to find out why, but did not receive any answers.

WLBT was unable to reach a school official this afternoon.

It is a shame. He's really taking on a lot. With the economy the way it is. Hope the best for him and us.

maybe its just an over reaction to all the complaints and lawsuits over political indoctrination in the schools?

I grew up near Puckett, MS. I guess they are keeping those kids straight down there!laugh

That's a rough little town, it's probably in the best interest of the students at this point, to avoid fighting or whatever. After the reality sets in, I'm sure it won't be as big of an issue.
