Both my dog (Rick James) whom was a dachsund and my cat (Sweet Sixteen) were killed this summer by being run over (I have a highway for my backyard). I have been sad without them. I've been considering getting both another cat and another pup but I think for the pup I'm going to go upscale with a Yorkie.

If you have a pet share a bit about you and your pet.

The strangest pet I've had was a piggie (it was a full grown pig when I got it). I never had to leash it at all. It stayed in the yard all the time. I worked as a houseparent and my kids loved it however my bosses didnt and I had to sell it.

Hit the local pound....It will do you good my man. Seriously....when my 15 year old Australian Sheppard passed away...I was lost......

That Christmas...I went and saw the dog with this certain look in her eye.

A couple months later adopted a hound that was starving. Black Betty and Chatka are very happy now!

Dude,....grieve , remember and honour your loss...but there is no reason you cant devote that same affection to the next dog you get.

All dogs are worth it!

Well put when you said upgrade to a yorkie! My yorkie is the best dog ever & will be 8 in jan. She couldnt get more human unless she started talkinng to me in human words it would not suprise me. She is so very loving & likes everyone. A bit of advice you need to find one with the baby doll face as they are the best sort of yorkie. LOOK at my dog in my profile thats the look. My parents got a pup too

i have several pets. last week, i had 10. u c i do pet rescue. so my friend had a dog, and 3 cats. they left, and then they came back. well, so then the dog and 2 cats left, and that left one large one which i am kinda renting because he yowls at the rats that come through the sewer up the pipes through a hole in the wall. u should hear it. it sounds like a blood curdling yowl.

I'm really attached to what I like to call my little mini-pitbull Casey. I almost didnt take her when my friend tried to give her to me, but I'm so glad I did. She follows me everywhere I go, and I can't even begin to explain how happy she makes me and how much I love her. I'm her third owner, and she's about 5-6 years old. I don't know how I'm gonna be able to handle it when she goes.

Always adopt! I have three dogs, two of which were adopted. My Pug who is about 10 years old has been my best friend for the majority of that time, have a Treeing Walker Coonhound (though I admit he isn't the brightest) who is lovable as all! And the last one is an English Bulldog, which is nice because now I can talk to something that actually understands me!laugh

The Pug and Coonhound were adopted out of a shelter, the Coonhound was a day from euthanization. Save a loving animal and adopt from your local shelter.flowerforyou

then, ya wanta hear about the rest of my pets? of course u do.
i have 3 dogs. they r rescue mutts also. zorro is a gas chamber dog. u c he bit someone, and the owner took him down to hs where she paid $150 to get him in, begged me to take him, and paid another $150 to get him out. he did his job. he scared the utility man that came to shut off my electricity. one big woof.

then, i took him to obedience school, and i will say that really helped because he comes but he will not stay off the couch. one of his issues in life. he is 10 and going to therapy school in his next life...because they told me that is a very good age. his personality is set. hmmmm

then, there is sadie, a rott/lab mix that someone dumped at the Oaktree bar across the street. how could someone do this. well because the miserable little ***** digs, escapes from her pen, and snags my purse, and burys my sandels. the redeaming quality is that she guards her bones, and food. which is a good quality? um, well i don't think so...but we shall c.
then, there is cookie who got her name from eating Mr. Ed's cookies. he is an elk. not the kind with horns, but the service club past president, and my opinion is they should never let this guy be president or anything again.
anyway, cookie was a rescue dog from a pitting ring. she was kept in the dark, and ate parts of my door off. she wrinkled mini blinds big time, hates cats, crows, and squirrels. she is white with a genetic deafness. however, after working on this a year, my waving paid off. she now comes. well sometimes. except when she looks away..which means something but what.

these dogs. what do they do for me....? everything. they are my life, my soul, and my purpose for being. from them i have forged a new life. taken up a new cause, and found myself again. if u would like to hear more, i will write on the subject later.flowerforyou

I kept a beta fish (I dont think that is spelled right) at the house where I worked with the kids at. I had that fish over a year I believe. One day a kid put dishwash on the roots of the plant (lily) that the fish lived with and it suffocated. I was irate at the boy cause he did it out of meanness.

I have a black buremese cat Merlin.Rescued from the pound.I would not have picked him because he was already 5 months old but my husband was standing with his back to the cage and Merlin put his paw on Lens shoulder and he asked me "how could we not take him"Over the years we have had a few rough spots but now 15 yrs later Merlin is my family. When I lost my husband to illness kitty was there, fire in my building kitty was there, although he had to be put on thyroid medication and a pill to keep him from being to agressive. He is no lap cat and seems to get a charge out of watching you look for him, my big lovable cat.

In my profile you will see a picture of my best friend....and the animal that is plotting my death.

I would be completely lost without either of them.

Jake ( my Black Lab ) is always happy to see me when I come home. He has also been my companion on those lonely holiday nights for the last 4 years.

No SERIOUSLY!!! There is a quiz online that rates the probability that your cat is plotting your death. Mongo rated at 96 percent!!!!

I had a great dog once. He was literally my best friend, but I've never gone there again. It was too painful the first time. frown
