my elderly rich aunt is tough too but I'm in the will and she loves me so I have to get her something she is allergic to any and all fragrances, perfumes, odors, and sighhhhhhh cigarette smoke and she goes to the Holy Land every year and brings something back so she has no room or desire for knick knacks and her house is full of exquisite furniture and art pieces last year I got her an apple corer Go to your local health food store and buy her some organic or chemical free shower gel, bath soaps or shampoo, if she does her own hair. Make up a basket or something with a card that says how much you care. They worked for me (allergies). If they work for her, it should be good for a cool mill! ![]() ![]() ![]() hmmmmmmmmm... |

sounds like a visa gift card may be in order for some and if they have money a card (hand made)or (self designed) to let them know how ya feel about them after all it is not about the gifts at least it is not supposed to be It's about the giving. It's nice to make banana bread or pumpkin bread for the people that have everything. The older people that I know like IOU's that say "good for hand wash and waxing a car" or "good for a free grass cutting". |

They're still plain ole people in the 1950's and 2008. Families still help the older people. My child is cleaning Grandma's bathroom for a Christmas present. My mom and I will be baking banana bread, raisin bread, and pumpkin bread. |

I had a stay-at-home mom cooking homemade meals then. When I older, she got a job and retired at the age of 70. I cook homemade meals now. |

I am sure you have fond memories of your mother but beyond that...oh wait...why was I so slow to put it together... /smirk It's not so much an age issue...it's more about...the " time "......the 50's...the early to mid 60's...now call me naive or sentimental...but I find...that I identify or have somekind of connection...with movies like...American Graffiti...Pleasantville..and....Diner...or...TV shows like...Leave it to Beaver...Andy Griffith...and...**** Van Dyke...I mean my favorite movie of all time is Angels With Dirty Faces...made in I believe 1938...starring my favorite actor of all time James Cagney...I have beautiful memories of summer vacations each and every year...little league baseball...Church on Sunday...followed by breakfast at La Stradas for 9 hungry kids...and...two Holy adults...so as you can see...for me...it's not about age...it's about the " time "...I've always said..." I was born 30 years too late ! "....Ohhh...for the 50's !.... ![]() |
