Its no big deal to ask someone what they do for a living. Consider they spend 40+ hours a week doing it. Its a big part of someones life. It impacts and has implications in many other areas of someones life. Just part of getting to know someone.

Exactly...

I usually ask it . I don't care about salary, I want to know what they do, or what they'd like to be doing. Some people just have a J O B to pay the bills (like me for now), but to some people thier work is interesting & important.

If they get upset when ask then I start to wonder why it's a secret.

GREAT POST, Hen!

If'n I were "looking" for a mate...I certainly would want to know what they do to "bring home the bacon".

Certainly NOT to determine their finanical worth...but, to surmise if they are living their passion and truly enjoy what they do for a "living".

I can find myself engaged and interested in someone talking about their profession whether it be "ditch digger" or "doctor"...as long as they are passionate about it.

If they get all pi$$y about my inquiries...ummm...errrm...RED FLAG! ohwell

HUGE character indicator to me...anyways.
