What are your thoughts on this brilliant man's following quote?


"The way to see by faith is to shut the eye of reason" Benjamin Franklin

I think what he said is true.

This is why it is extremely important that a person is very careful about what they place their faith in.

If they forfeit reason, and they place their faith in something that is truly unreasonable, then they will become quite unreasonable.

This is the principle that cults prey on. They ask people to have faith and forfeit reason. It can be extremely dangerous.

Look what happened during the burning times! Lots of faith, very little reason.

Faith can be dangerous, and deadly.

I think people put too much faith in people and raise their expectations on them. I agree with BF turn off the reason. "Reason" is peoples law. That in turn is a recipe for a resentment when it doesn't work out the way WE want. We place too much expectations on people, places, and things to make us happy. Happiness needs to come from within not from outside sources. For me it's my spiritual and conscious contact with God. That's the way I do it. I'm glad I have that choice.
