one of my creditor garnashed $164 out of my account yesterday and i didnt know untill today.. and no they didnt have my permission to do so the problem is i have the final check of $50 to pay my lawyer(filed for bankruptcy) and now i have to contact him and let him know what happen so he wont cash it i dont have any money in my account now so im flat broke

i know by law they cant garnish your account if your on ssi..

You should talk to your lawyer about that cuz here in PA that has no bearing on garnishments.

If the creditor is on the list of creditors that you are claiming bankruptcy against, then they took the money illegally, and your bankruptcy lawyer should be notified immediatly of what they did. You may have a suit against that creditor because they did.

they also know im on ssi. for my lawyer did talk to them awhile back...
and get this the creditore is handled by a lawyers office

in ohio as I understand it when you file for bankruptcy it stops all creditors from doing anything .. and that include harassment calls to you wage garinshements etc... they have to go to court to get anything and also I do believe as you stated the only person who can garinshe your ssi../ social security or military retirement pay is the federal goverment.... but the best advice is to get in touch with your lawyer as soon as possible and go to the bank and ask about a form to decline they paying that. its like when you have a credit card company charge something to you and its not yours...

oh also ask your lawyer about fradulant charges by the people who took the money from you if they are represented by a lawyer they also know what laws apply so they very well could be in violation of said laws.... thats harassment...

the bottom line...if ssi is your ONLY source of income they cannot garnish any of it...you are what is called "judgement proof" trust me be seeing you

meaning for stop payment well i called the bank and they told me i would have to contact the bank garnish dept. which there closed untill monday (figures)
