Rippling Red Rhetoric

The night had been long and hectic.
Then she came rippling red rhetoric.
A red herring fish if ever a saw one.
But far be it from me to make fun.

Her words seemed serious and spice.
She came from upstream; Oh, how nice.
Eyes of green and red cayenne hair.
Maybe just a mermaid; Not quite there.

But after we parted; Being just a trout;
I studied what she said to figure it out.
And her words made a rippling effect.
Logical yes but I thought what the heck.

Rhetorical infatuation or was it just me?
Was I just hearing what I wanted it to see?
A rainbow-trout and a red herring; I'll be?
Perplexed I was by the all the irregularity.

I swished my tail and rejoined the school.
I wasn't about to be this red herring's fool.
I have evaded the net and I am not just bait.
Maybe if she'd came earlier and not this late.

Pinnochio And The Squirrel

While Pinocchio was just walking one day.
A red squirrel came out on a limb to play.
A nut shell she was eating fell on his head.
He said, "Ouch but kept on walking ahead.

She ran across on the limbs watching him.
She broke off a leaf and threw him a stem.
Didn't know what to do about the crazy squirrel.
Especially when she told him she was a real girl.

Pinocchio remembering when he was just wood.
Paused to reflect and suddenly understood.
The puppet masters brought them together.
And all the nuts he helped her to gather.

He told her how he became a real boy.
And she listened intently to his story.
She didn't belittle him like others.
Didn't make fun of him he discovered.

He held out his hand and she nuzzled.
And soon he was no longer puzzled.
A friend with whom he could relate.
It was a wonderful fantasy date.

The Shadow Of Lost Love

When I remember love and how it felt.
Like a game of cards; A hand was dealt.
I could hold what I had or I could fold.
Felt lucky and it was wonderful to behold.

How it took on a life all of its own.
Then slowly more cards were shown.
It became more serious but still play.
How I remember it even until this day.

But eventually life it shadowed love
As reality evaded fantasy from above.
No longer was love as it should be.
Other things became important to me.

Sense of self and lost freedom realized.
Forgot what it felt to look in your eyes.
Liberty and pursuit of happiness jeopardized.
Neglected and protected friendship terrorized.

Things we used to hold in common together.
Destroyed by a change in the calm weather.
Intimacy replaced by an impending doom.
Love shadowed because there was no room.

Pinnocho And The Squirrell (Part Two)

After Pinocchio talked to the girl
She told him how she became a squirrel.
That she wanted to be a girl, again.
All he would have to do was be her friend.

She had become enchanted by an evil witch.
Because of her ways she would not switch.
The witch kept her hair the color of red.
Changed her to look like a squirrel instead.

Pinocchio realized they were both entranced.
Fated to meet by the puppet masters perchance.
A meeting that some oracle might have known.
Both left to figure it out all on their own.

Puppet masters with their dolls on strings
Pulling their strings to see what it brings.
Making us dance as we go through changes.
Rewriting our histories as life rearranges.

Knowing what is best because we are made
Not just for who we are but how we trade.
Giving insights in this thing called life
Brought on by good times and by strife.

Pinnochio And The Squirrell (Part Three)

Pinocchio was amazed that she could fly like that.
He loved watching her move just like an angel bat.
The way she went through the trees with such grace.
It was like she knew where her paws came to place.

The confidence she had with not the fear of flying.
Told him that he could, too; He wasn't even trying.
But he exclaimed that wasn't a squirrel in a tree.
Had been wood for so long; It affected his mentality.

What if I should fall and I am afraid of heights?
She told him that she had fallen and that he might.
She said that she couldn't give him any guarantees.
But if he didn't try he would never run the trees.

Finally he admitted that he would rather watch her.
That he had a fondness for girls and squirrels.
The freedom to be yourself in any setting at all.
And to not worry should you should fly or fall.

Whispered her little secret learned from the birds.
A red robin to be exact and what she had overheard.
You can only be what you are meant to be, friend.
Whether in fantasy or the real; We all can pretend.

Pinnochio And The Squirrell (Part Four)

Pinocchio told her that her was friend wise.
She said yes but that she is a little shy.
Pinocchio asked if he could see her friend.
He didn't care if it was all just pretend.

Said the red robin used to be a woodpecker.
Pinocchio thought what a real home-wrecker.
Yes and that he would have to lose his wood.
She then asked him if he thought he could.

Said he didn't know and he still pondered.
Sometimes he thought so but he wondered.
He said she must be really enchanted, too.
Comes with the territory; What you going to do?

He said he couldn't argue with any of that.
He should wait before chewing any more fat.
She said that she would always be his friend.
He was always welcomed in the land of pretend.

Said he would have to ponder some more.
She said take some time and lets explore.
Its a beautiful day; Lets not waste it.
Life is so wonderful; Can't you taste it?

Pinochio And The Squirrell (Part Five)

And as Pinocchio and the squirrel were sitting there.
Came a voice from behind a bush that was almost clear.
I don't see how you can say that about woodpeckers.
What gives you the right to call us home-wreckers?

If anything when we peck on a tree we make a home.
It can be dangerous to wonder these woods alone.
You should be grateful that you met my friend.
Or otherwise your wood would be at an real end.

Besides that didn't you say that you was real?
How would you know how a woodpecker would feel?
Next time think of that before making conclusions.
You have lived safety but because of seclusion.

It is a good thing that you have met a guide.
Not all of the enchantments will cleverly hide.
There are many here in this type of confusion.
And to them you have made a real intrusion.

I am glad that you have met my friend here.
She won't try to disillusion you; She cares.
But watch your step with the generalizations.
Others would hurt you without any hesitations.

Ghost Enchanter

I gave it all up for you.
But you decided we're through.
And you say that I am the ghost.
You lasted longer than most.

Leave you just for a little while.
Now I can't even get you to smile.
Has it really been that long?
Can't you even remember our song?

Have you met some new enchantress?
Did she cause your mind to dance?
Did it sadden you when she went away?
It is hard work to make a ghost stay.

Ghosts are like that; Don't you know?
You think you see something and no show.
Sometimes we are visible just to you.
Sometimes it is just the mind's eye, too.

But you will keep on seeing these ghosts.
Because you are a better enchanter than most.
But others see ghosts just like you.
Nice to spend this enchanted evening with you.

Welcome To Griefshare

First time you invited me there.
Was listening to everyone share.
You made me feel right at home.
Let me know that I wasn't alone.

Hugged me when I was so weak.
You gave me the time to speak.
Let me sort out all my feelings.
Helped me with what I was dealing.

Let me know it was OK to cry.
Let me ask the questions of why.
Cried with me so I wasn't so shy.
Helped me to find joy by and by.

We broke open the ball of grief.
I couldn't believe all the relief.
To know that I wasn't the only one.
Gave me a purpose for living on.

Together how we fought the monster.
Even though I felt like a youngster.
Weekly we would always come back.
Comfort for every panic attack.

You let me know the rage had to show.
Helped to me to let the guilt go.
Turned my tears of sad to that joy.
Gave me time to share my own story.

Helped me get back on the track.
Let me see beyond all the black.
How I remember those early days.
How your friendship still stays.

Just wanted to thank you, friend.
For loving me when I had to depend.
On something much larger than me.
Because I was blind and couldn't see.

I could feel that you lost someone.
Helped me to realize we weren't done.
That others needed to share pain.
That we had many friends to gain.

Now my days are so much brighter.
And my nights are so much lighter.
But I owe it all to your touch.
How I needed you then and so much.

Now I am stronger and help others.
To share with them what I discovered.
A feeling of hope that wasn't there.
I want to welcome you to griefshare.

Pinocchio And The Squirrell (Part Six)

Came the red robin to visit me, again.
She let me know she was still my friend.
She told me not to fear the wood pecker.
She said the wood pecker is a protector.

She said the wood pecker chooses wisely.
It knows the wood it pecks precisely.
It just doesn't peck just any where.
See that decaying branch over there.

You must remember that we're enchanted.
It is almost like we have been planted.
But sometimes the gardener has to prune.
The wood pecker sings a different tune.

A robin pecks but in a much smaller bite.
But it takes a wood pecker to do it right.
Industrial pecking takes less of the day.
But all pecking leaves no time for play.

Some wood is good but other wood must go.
But all birds seem some how just to know.
After all it is just one thing they do.
Some of them know how to sing well, too.
