Obama Pulls Up a Chair at George Will's House
By Michael D. Shear Where does one dine a week before becoming the leader of the free world? At the Chevy Chase, Md., house of conservative columnist George Will. President-elect Barack Obama left his temporary home at the Hay-Adams Hotel at just after 6:15 this evening, arriving about 20 minutes later at Will's house, valued at $1.9 million. Aides said the visit was a dinner party; eagle-eyed reporters spotted two other conservative columnists among the guests: William Kristol of the Weekly Standard and David Brooks of the New York Times. This from the pool report, issued minutes ago: "Thanks to an enterprising photographer, a shot through a window showed op-ed stalwarts William Kristol and David Brooks are also part of this unlikely gathering of tight, right suits." So Obama makes this his lst dinner party after coming to Washington as the President Elect...... Wonder why the dems didn't think of this? Still gloating I imagine..... http://voices.washingtonpost.com/44/2009/01/13/obama_pulls_up_a_chair_at_geor.html?wprss=the-trail |

I love George Will.
I don't always agree with him but I read him regularly and very much admire his intelligent and reasoned advocacy for conservative causes and issues. William Kristol and David Brooks are wholly unlike republican pundit idiots Limbaugh and Coulter (those two are really more like performers). They are for the most part intelligent and reasonable conservatives. These are gentlemen who believe in education (does that make them elitists?), deliberation and reason. Oh to see these sorts of people take the republican party back from the likes of Palin, Joe the Plumber and the bible thumpers who disdain education, reason and the rule of law. Obama met with these gentlemen and no doubt walked away with some constructive suggestions for the future of this country. I think that's a damned good thing. |

I agree completely.
We fight each other to the determinate of the country. That's why I find people like Hannity and Limbaugh who have pledged to try and sabotage the Obama presidency so objectionable. It seems some would rather sink the ship than share the deck with those not like them. |
