I only sent her a card, and she cleaned mine, now she is exhausted and won't do anymore cleaning until next year.

Well Betty, albeit a male to tell you, if you take cleaning in small steps by cleaning up after cooking, or making a mess. Do laundry as it accumulates, not piled, vac a different room or two every day, its not such a burden.
