Veterans Affairs employee charged with theft
January 30, 2009 7:07 PM A Department of Veterans Affairs employee has been charged with theft after she spent nearly $24,000 designated for homeless veterans on herself, authorities said today. Lori Stubbs, 47, of the 5000 block of West Adams Street in Chicago was ordered held in lieu of $100,000 bail Friday. Prosecutors said Stubbs, an office manager for the agency, was issued credit cards in her name that were intended to pay for the needs of veterans. Instead, she used the cards to pay for phone and utility bills, dental work and auto expenses for herself and a friend, Assistant State's Atty. Lorraine Scaduto said at the hearing. ------------------------------------------------- This happened here in Chicago this week. Anybody wanna join me in mentally kicking her ass? She makes me sick. I say they should send her to Leavenworth when she gets convicted. The women GIs there will treat her to a very... Warm welcome. |

What irritaties me worse is under age vets being stinko drunk under the immediate supervision of their superiors, and soldiers being TDY and chargeing alcohol on their food vouchers so they are roaring alcoholics before they wash out of the service and become homeless.
No I don't like this broad one bit but most Veteran programs are not funded by the military but private non-profits that often pay more is administrative salaries than services to soldiers. |

Chicago and Illinois politicians have set a precedent that all Gov't employees want to follow.... First off, she's not a politician. There are dirty politicians all over the place. Remember Huey Long from Louisiana? No, then how about Senate Majority Leader Charles Walker from YOUR state of Georgia? Or Linda Schrenko who is a former superintendent of schools in Georgia who was convicted on an embezzlement scheme and sentenced to 8 years in prison. |

The Veterans Administration?
Where to start? I hope this woman is fully prosecuted. I've seen people embezzle from the United Way, the Girl Scouts, the School Board, 7-11...doesn't make any of those businesses or institutions bad. People who are tempted by easy access to money and who then make the decision to steal are all over. Many think either they can cover it up because they are so damned smart or that they will be able to put the money back before anyone notices. Pretty sad |
