Old Song in New Orleans
One old song And it still rhymes Rhyme your words on me Old song plays It still playing Play your notes on me The pianos smoking On the nightclub stage Bass releasing Notes from its cage Old song blue You’re still smiling Smile your blues on me Fingertips Upon the tables Plays a beat for me Some sit around This old piano While I hit the same old key Scented smiles Hang in the air Reminiscing As they stare Old song blue It still rhymes Rhyme your words on me Old musician Just like me Orleans is my home Every night They come to listen As I play here at my throne Perhaps one day You’ll visit me And I will play That same piano key Old song blue You’re still smiling Smile your blues on me. |
