Flashback: Carville Wanted Bush to Fail
The press never reported that Democratic strategist James Carville said he wanted President Bush to fail before the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. But a feeding frenzy ensued when radio host Rush Limbaugh recently said he wanted President Obama to fail.

On the morning of Sept. 11, 2001, just minutes before learning of the terrorist attacks on America, Democratic strategist James Carville was hoping for President Bush to fail, telling a group of Washington reporters: "I certainly hope he doesn't succeed."

Carville was joined by Democratic pollster Stanley Greenberg, who seemed encouraged by a survey he had just completed that revealed public misgivings about the newly minted president.

"We rush into these focus groups with these doubts that people have about him, and I'm wanting them to turn against him," Greenberg admitted.

The pollster added with a chuckle of disbelief: "They don't want him to fail. I mean, they think it matters if the president of the United States fails."

Minutes later, as news of the terrorist attacks reached the hotel conference room where the Democrats were having breakfast with the reporters, Carville announced: "Disregard everything we just said! This changes everything!"

The press followed Carville's orders, never reporting his or Greenberg's desire for Bush to fail. The omission was understandable at first, as reporters were consumed with chronicling the new war on terror. But months and even years later, the mainstream media chose to never resurrect those controversial sentiments, voiced by the Democratic Party's top strategists, that Bush should fail.

That omission stands in stark contrast to the feeding frenzy that ensued when radio host Rush Limbaugh recently said he wanted President Obama to fail. The press devoted wall-to-wall coverage to the remark, suggesting that Limbaugh and, by extension, conservative Republicans, were unpatriotic.

"The most influential Republican in the United States today, Mr. Rush Limbaugh, said he did not want President Obama to succeed," Carville railed on CNN recently. "He is the daddy of this Republican Congress."

Limbaugh, a staunch conservative, emphasized that he is rooting for the failure of Obama's liberal policies.

"The difference between Carville and his ilk and me is that I care about what happens to my country," Limbaugh told Fox on Wednesday. "I am not saying what I say for political advantage. I oppose actions, such as Obama's socialist agenda, that hurt my country.

"I deal in principles, not polls," Limbaugh added. "Carville and people like him live and breathe political exploitation. This is all a game to them. It's not a game to me. I am concerned about the well-being and survival of our nation. When has Carville ever advocated anything that would benefit the country at the expense of his party?"

Carville told Politico that focusing on Limbaugh is a deliberate strategy aimed at undermining Republicans.

"The television cameras just can't stay away from him," he said. "Our strategy depends on him keeping talking, and I think we're going to succeed."

Greenberg added: "He's driving the Republican reluctance to deal with Obama, which Americans want."

In 2006, 51 percent of Democrats wanted Bush to fail, according to a FOX News/Opinion Dynamics poll.

Perhaps the reason we "Wanted" Bush to fail is because he:
A. Failed in MLB
B. Failed in the oil business
C. Failed to win the election, Al Gore won, the Supreme Court put bush in office....

He has had a long history of FAILURE, what should we have expected? Exactly what we got! Failure!

THE POWER OF THE PRESS CAN MAKE YOU OR BREAK YOU.............

In the hands of the States of to-day there is a great force that creates the movement of thought in the people, and that is the Press. The part played by the Press is to keep pointing our requirements supposed to be indispensable, to give voice to the complaints of the people, to express and to create discontent. It is in the Press that the triumph of freedom of speech finds its incarnation. But the GOYIM States have not known how to make use of this force; and it has fallen into our hands. Through the Press we have gained the power to influence while remaining ourselves in the shade; thanks to the Press we have got the GOLD in our hands, notwithstanding that we have had to gather it out of the oceans of blood and tears. But it has paid us, though we have sacrificed many of our people. Each victim on our side is worth in the sight of God a thousand GOYIM.

ok. I'll go with you here..

Obama has a history of ideology that says that to take from the richest few and distribute to the poor many is a way of achieving economic justice. He learned this from people like bill ayers, phlager and wright. He espouses the values posited in a book called "rules for radicals" by Sal Alinsky.. He promotes marxism and big government control on education.

obama has a history of supporting the most draconian of anti-right to self defense measures that would deny law abiding Americans the access to ammunition and firearms.

His party has control of the legislatve and executive branches of the federal government along with which comes their desire to cement as firmly as possible for as long a period of time as possible their authority in washington regardless of the cost to future generations and the economy at large..

So why would I want to see him succeed in implenting that kind of agenda? I don't. I want him to fail in doing so.

where I want him to succeed is in keeping our border safe (see: el pase/cuidad juarez, nogales, tijuana), establishing responsible fiscal policy, encouraging Americans to make something of themselves and to stop talking down the economy.

A quote "just minutes before learning of the terrorist attacks" that he hoped Bush policies fail (we have seen those swell polices) without the question or statement Carville was responding to is nothing but spin.

Of course I won't ask you to recall what Shurb did for quite a few minutes after he heard about 9-11....

Oh, and I dispute the press not reporting it. Obviously they did...or were you there to hear that conversation...rr it wouldn't be posted here.

This sort of statement is entirely different than Rush repeatedly stating he hopes Obama policies for economic recovery fail.

Why? Because if the Obama policies for recovery do not succeed the American people will suffer significant consequences that will be injurious to all republican, democrat and independent.

Quotes taken out of context are swell for spin but are $hit.

would it not be foolish to hope that one succeeds in digging his way out of a hole?

The American people have already suffered greatly since september/october when it became apparent that Obama's lead wasn't going to be eclipsed. the dow is down close to 50%.

Obama has no plan for economic recovery. he just has democrat wish lists, pet projects, and anti-growth tax policies.

let me ask this: why is it a good idea to limit the tax deduction on charitible donations when so many people are being laid off and might have to turn to local food banks, the salvation army, and, heaven forbid, the local churches for help in a time of need.

why?? why do that? why discourage people to give charitibly during such a time by drastically cutting back the extent of deductions? It's basically a tax on charitable donation.. and what behaviour your tax, you get less of..

or is that the idea? take money away from private charities and force it through the treasury.. why would they want to do that? couldn't be because Obama and the congress want to determine how as many dollars in this country as possible get spent, could it??
