Well, how this movie got rave reviews is beyond me. I saw it, and half way through the movie I thought, "Will this madness EVER end?!" All I can say is that it was a waste of my time and money. The movie had no plot, and Dr Manhattan seriously needed to put on a banana sack or something b/c those blue danglies were hella distracting and SO not normal. I could have been at home watching my Mizzou Tigers beat Baylor for the Big 12 Championship.

Watchmen had an amazing and complex plot. Much like Sin City or Seven Pounds, the plot finally delivers a "Eureka!" moment when all that has happened in the story makes perfect sense. I do agree that Dr. Manhattan's full frontals were a tad overwhelming. With that minor issue removed I whole heartedly agree with reviews toting this movie as amazing.

I guess it was me and my roommate with our add or something, but both of us just wanted it to be over with already. All I got from it was a lot of mindless blood and gore and an "oh my god, he's my father" type thing. I just didn't care for it.

It was basically taken directly page for page from the book, so...if you have never read the graphic novel, you probably wouldnt appreciate the complex plot and intriguing storyline. The film wasnt dumbed down like many other comic book films. It was more of a social commentary for adult audiences.

*SPOILER*

The only complaint I had was they totally changed the ending. I guess because they couldnt incorporate the side comic book story (The Black Freighter). In the graphic novel Veidt kidnaps a group of scientests, painters, geniuses, and the author of "The Black Freighter", and isolates them on an island, to create a monster that would have been the destruction of NYC. Instead it was Dr. Manhatten that did it in the film.ohwell Pretty lame.

Yeah, you either love it or you hate it. Me and my roommate hated it, the rest of our group loved it. One chick literally jumped down my throat because I said that it was and I quote, "The absolute worst movie I have EVER paid money to go see in my ENTIRE life!!!!". I thought she was going to jump into the backseat and strangle me. "You don't like superhero movies do you?!" Umm... Spiderman 1 & 2 are two of my all time favorite movies, and the Dark Knight pulls in at a close second, or third. Well, apparently those aren't superhero movies, or they were really crappy or something, b/c once again she made me feel like a moron for stating my opinion.

I thought the movie was pretty good. It actually surpassed my expectations. At first I thought, oh no. Not another Comic book movie. But the ending message was very good.

The needs of the many out weight the needs of the few.

As for the blue dangles, they could of certainly put a sock on it. laugh

Yeah I saw Mr Manhattan and I thought a big blue freak can gt a hot woman like that and I thought what's he got that I don't. Then they did a pull back and I said to myself, I can't compete with that.

Its a super hero movie, so of course they are going to make him big down there. I just wonder if it was CGIed in to look bigger lol.

I did not care for Sin City or the Kill Bill (Volumes 1 - ???) So it soesn't sound like I would care for this one very much.

I did immensely enjoy Seven Pounds, though. And just finished Twilight and Marley & Me.

Yeah, if you can't get into Sin City or Kill Bill, probably not the movie for you. You can't pay me enough to watch Marley and Me. No interest in Seven Pounds, and Twilight was a huge let down. But that was cinematography that got in my way. That horrible blue filter all the way through to make it look colder. Being from the northwest, it doesn't look that blue.

I absolutely loved it! I’ve been a fan of the comic since the early 90’s, (I was only 4 when it came out) and after seeing it in movie limbo for the last 15 years, I was happy with the result. This is probably the most accurate comic to screen movie ever made. 98% of it was dead on with the books (accept the ending, which I think I liked better, and the lack of the sub-story “The Black Frieghter”, which is understandable since the movie would well be over 3 hours long had they included the story). My only qualm with the movie is it’s soundtrack, a little off for the subject manner, but the original score was definitely spot on.

All in all, this is a movie I can’t wait to have in my dvd collection!!bigsmiledrinker
