Even when I was a kid a thousand years ago..my mom had to sign a thing saying the school wasn't responsible. It is nothing new. I had to do..many do it. That is why we are supposed to have insurance on our kids. There is a school insurance to be bought.

My kids went all over the place like Six flags, they flew on airplanes to Washington. School bus trips to far away places. We can't leave our kids out of life simply because we can't sue. It is what it is.

I was hurt during a basketball game I was playing in...the school didn't pay for me getting fixed. My parents did.

My child was injured at school. I had to take them to the ER. The insurance company sent me a letter asking me where my child was injured, what happened, etc. That surprised me.

My nephew injured his knee _maniscus and some other thing during football. The school does not take responsibility for this. They want to know who their insurance is as does the hospital.

He still hasn't had it fixed due to money problems.

Wonder why they don't have to sign a waiver before getting vaccines that turn them autistic? Oh, maybe that would be admitting vaccines are deadly...hmmmm

There IS a waiver that parents can sign omitting their kids from the vaccines at school that are becoming mandatory. But they really don't like to tell parents it is available.

Is that the same as, between a rock and a hard place.
But, Ma, ya' gotta' sign it or they won't let me play.

I have to sign those waivers every single time my child participates in an activity or a sport. I do wish there was a sentence on those waivers giving the organizations some responsibility if they are negligent in any way.

Winx my understanding is that if there is proof of any negligence the waiver is null.

Yeah, I worry. He is on the Indian helth care roll now, but they are sooooo slow. It has been months now. But...they also want him to get a release from a cardiologist before they will see him. Waiting for that now. I wish I could remember what else he hurt. Torn maniscus and a ruptured something or other.

I just looked onto the school site. I can't copy and past it.

It's the Permission to Participate and Travel Form for sports. I turn it in tonight, btw. Track season is here.

"We also give our consent for him/her to accompany the team on trips and will not hold the school or parent responsible in case of accident or injury whether it be en route to or from another school, or during practice, or an interscholastic contest, and we hereby agree to hold xxxx school, its employees, agents, representatives, coaches, and volunteers harmless from any and all liability, actions, causes of action, debts, claims, or demands of every kind and nature whatsoever which may arise by or in connection with participation by my child/ward in any activities related to the interscholastic program of xxxx school."

That about covers everything!

I also have to sign a form that gives them permission to take my child to get medical care. But..it explains that they will not get the care without proof of insurance. I have to show them proof of insurance.

There's got to be a better way then that. That is just wrong!

Would it speed things up if he went through the ER?

Nope...just a lot of out of pocket money that they cannot afford with this: the name of a specialist and time and date of appointment. Not an emergency surgery. A sports injury that needs care.
