Momma is twenty-one
Daddy twenty-three
The wedding was but six months before
now in a few months they'll be meeting me
Sometimes momma cries at night
Daddy paces nervously
He shouts about money they don't have
and the time being too soon
She tries to tell him there is a way
Daddy has none of it though
"Go to the doctor"
With that momma screamed at him to leave
Oh no they're yelling about me.
Daddy please don't be angry
I'll try not to be in the way
I won't cry much, not even if I'm hungry
You work hard to give momma what she has
And even if my shirt is a blanket,
It won't be all that bad.

i don't want momma to be sad
Let me come and meet you both
and you'll see, it won't be so bad

Look into my unknowing baby eyes and see the days ahead.

scold me when I'm naughty
