I have seen cases of fully competent adults getting lesser sentences for far worse offenses. What is wrong with the judicial system in Texas? just like any other state....it is case by case...evidence....the DA...judge...jury..... I don't agree with the sentence he received at all and there should be another way No I think the Texas judicial system is full of sadists. I disagree. that would be generalizing. there are other states that have issues as well. no court system is perfect and there are courts that are corrupt. but to say this wouldn't have traumatized the 6 yr old?????? i don't agree with the sentence....but should the 18 yr old not yhave anything done to hopefully prevent this in th future???? like a home or therapy or something? Would the six year old have been traumatized if were another six year old? Do we know to what extent the six year old participated? Do we even know if the six year old even saw the 18 year old as a adult or as a peer? Texas is big on punishment. Bad analogy, IMO - A 6 yr. doing it to another 6 yr. old. The 6 yr. old child visually saw a 18 yr. man touching him in this case. That's a big difference. An 18 yr. old man can overpower a 6 yr. old child. Yes, that it is traumatic. It will affect the 6 yr. old in many ways. |

this is such a shame and a lose/lose situation for all.
The 6 yr old was molested. The 18 yr old molested a 6 yr old without any knowledge that it was bad. The system sentences an 18 yr old (47 IQ) to 100 yrs in jail. I have heard of murderers getting lighter sentences - not to mean this wasn't a bad thing that happened. I just don't see the justice in it all. |

The six year old will be fine with therapy.The mentally challanged person was not competent enough to help in his own defense let alone go on trail.Murderers get less.Disgusting.
Maybe this poor guy was molested and thought it was okay.Texas needs to get a grip. |
