Perhaps When

Someday, perhaps when they are grown,
There will be understanding,
How our examples have shown,
Why they walk and talk their living,
Do they see hypocrisy? Our believing?
Have we gotten past what we were left with?
Changed for the future.
Did we leave them good gifts?
For now, though they see the hand in their face,
Feeding and nurturing, sharing God's grace,
Mercy, forgiveness think on these good things,
To be able to hold them, loosen the strings.
Keep us together, no matter what,
Remembering the price,
Was paid, love was sought.
Someday, perhaps they'll understand
I love them and did the best that I can.
