Specifically why the hell does religion have this "magical" ability to declare what is moral and what is not? This country is not going to decline because of divorce rate, it is going to go down because of religion.

Are you saying that these divorced people are causing a decline in morality?

I love it when men say divorce is evil; my parents separated when I was 10 years old and got divorced when I was 15, and it was one of the best choices my mother every made. As for the decline in morality, that's up to interpretation, since morals are relative depending on so many factors. I used to live in a town where it was immoral to have illegitimate children- when the mother finally did get married (and she had to get married eventually unless she wanted to suffer under an umbrella of shame) the stepfather was expected to adopt her children, to "give them a name" and then I've lived in places where 1 out of 5 kids were born out of wedlock. So it's not all black and white. Interesting thread though, I wonder how long it'll be before the mods step in and lock it down?
