As the headline suggests this topic a has someting to do with ice hockey, to be more exact im going to (try) play ice hockey. so i was wondering if anyone out there could give me any advice, hints and tips on the best equipment and how not to get myself killed.

so any tid bits you could throw my way would be fantastic x

i have an entire set of equipment...spend good money on gloves, shoulder pads, and breezers that fit and support your lumbar...

check ebay, local play-it-again sports places...don't always have to pay retail for good stuff

use eye black, then no would can tell....AND it can be very intimidating....a really cool mask would probably be a good idea

Thanks hockeychick, i'll make sure i do that and a couple of people have mentioned ebay but i heard its not a good idea when buying skates as you have to get the fit just right.

There is such a wide selection & price range when it comes to equipment.It depends upon how much U want to spend really.There is always an option of pre-used equip.also in thee event that this is only a trial basis.I wish U the best of luck.U have chosen well btw for it is the kewlest sport on the planet.Godspeed!Cy p.s.e-mail me if U have any furthor Q's K.

i got a pair of skates cheap off ebay to start off with...but if you have anything local, definitely better to check the fit--have fun!

Could'nt pass this up too funny well first remember to get your skates sharpened. 2nd charm the refs so if anyone touches you they will be sent to the pently box. 3rd never buy mission sticks and gloves. Last go with ccm helmets eagle gloves and bauer skates not Nike never put your head down looking at the puck.

you don't need to buy the BEST equipment , just the right FITTING stuff... trust me I know after 40 years of playing hockey. ALSO , do not "cheap out" on skates and helmets. the 2 most important pieces in my opinion
I still say its the best sport to compete in and play. the excerise is TREMENDOUS , just do not over do it ..
AND finally WATER ..drink lots of it ...because you WILL SWEAT lol....

I have a good $2,700 plus U.S. in leg pads, chest protector, cup, goalie mask, skates, skate guards, and pants.

Check out goaliemonkey.com if you need to find and check out some prices. Write down the brand and the price. See what you might want to do before you end up spending countless hours driving around from place to place checking out prices.

That way when you get to a place you give them the list and the prices, brands, and equipment you found. It will make it a lot easier.

If you play net, the equipment will feel cumbersome, but just give it time to break it in.


Practice. Practice. Practice every chance you get. Pick ups and drop ins. Even public sessions. Watch the sport and pay attn to how the goalie reacts and moves in the crease.

I'm not trying to be a know it all, just telling you how I learned...lol It did help a lot.

Get to the rink early to get your equip on and stretch.

I am not too sure about England and if they have shops or not.
