![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I predict, if they actually do close the base, they can move the detaineees to the refurbished prisons in Afghanastan. Then, what would have changed? Austin Sun Aug 9, 10:30 am ET WASHINGTON – The White House national security adviser says he's confident the administration will meet President Barack Obama's deadline for closing the Guantanamo Bay detention facility by January. National security adviser Jim Jones says officials are working every day to find the right solution for dealing with suspected terrorists being held at the U.S. naval base in Cuba. But the Senate's leading Republican, Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, predicts that the effort to close the prison will meet with strong bipartisan opposition in Congress. McConnell argues there is no reason to close Guantanamo's prison, saying it's not broken and doesn't need fixing. Jones and McConnell appeared on "Fox News Sunday." |

I had a similar concern. Closing Gitmo is not a policy change in and of itself. If we do not change our torture policy closing one base to utilize others for the same purpose is ludicrous.

The one thing i haven,t seen any where in the papers tv news or inter net . Once those guys are brought here as prisoners they well have civil rights and well probably get really good jobs that not one of us want ... and they are really hard workers . the first thing they well do after some court over turns there sentences is apply for political asylum . in between bombings well collect ss checks and get free medical care in short stays in prison .but we well feel sorry for them because of the hard live in the gangs of Africa . because above all we are a bunch of rocks . god don,t you just love leadership .
