I think it depends on the type of jewelry. If it is something
sentimental, especially an engagement or wedding ring, I think you
should go for quality over quantity. I was horrified when an in-law
told me that she and her husband had gotten a flawed stone for her
wedding set, just because it cost less and she could get a bigger one.
Just seemed like a very bad omen to me, and sure enough, the marriage
didn't last.
When it comes to some little trinket that you just like the look of, who
cares whether there is a hidden flaw. One of my emeralds does have a
tiny flaw in it, but the setting covers it anyway.

If it was chosen with me in mind and love in their heart it would not
matter.......

as long as it wasn't but ugly....LMAObigsmile

It does not matter the size of the diamond.
It is the love of the person who has given it to you That makes it
really shine

I'm not into diamonds. I like more color in my stones.

I'll admit that at first, I liked diamonds best, but once you have
enough of them... I want some Alexandrite (I think that is what it is
called) but refused to even consider owning any kind of synthetic
stones, which is about all they have at the jewelers here any more.
Something to do with the Russians shutting down the mines or something
is what I heard.

Well a bit of both for my answer.

I dont want a tiny diamond with zero flaws. Diamonds are expensive
because they are made by natural prcesses of nature. If I wanted a
perfectly flawless diamond...you can get those man-made for a 1/4 of the
price (cubic zerconians /sp) They have the same exact properties...just
one is made in a lab..the other in nature. So a diamond with flaws (such
as a tiny speck of dirt in it would make it more special to me, and I
wouldn't care about whether the speckle deflected a ray or two of
shine...I wouldnt notice)

As for flaws, they look a 3 things.

They go by Cut, Clarity, & Color.

Cut>(If the cut isnt perfect the price goes down because it effects how
the diamond shines/direction) *This doesn't matter to me, it doesn't
have to be perfect.

Clarity>(This is if the stone is free of debris or not...tiny speck of
dirt for example. Also effect how the diamond shines) * This is not
importantant to me, it doesn't have to be important.

Color>(The whiter a diamond the more expensive, yellowish diamonds are
cheaper) * This one I care about. The cut & clarity people can NOT
normally see imperfections in your ring. But with diamond color it can
be seen by anyone if the diamond looks "dirty" or yellowish.

So I would say I would sacrifice having flaws in cut & clarity but NOT
in color in order to have a bigger diamond.

*Just my thoughtsflowerforyou

Am not really a "dimond" girl.

Would much prefeer a jade, turquoise or opal in a unusual
setting,something rare and unique.
