Topic: Are we compromised by our insurance? | |

Is our health/welfare compromised because of the insurance we carry?
The answer is YES. It is unfair that our treatment and health care is based upon our insurance providers. In my opinion everyone should be permitted the same health care equally. Any medical facility or provider should treat all clients the same. We fund our clinics and hospitals through federal, state, and city taxes so that everyone should have available health care. However many clinics can pick and choose which insurance companies they wish to accept. This is based upon THEIR convenience, even if certain clients are excluded from ANY providers in their network. Most notorious for this unfair treatment is clinics such as (Dentists, Chiropractors, Optomitrists, etc.) For example, because of the insurance I carry...I must drive atleast 40 miles to be seen by a dentist. I do this because the dentist office I was going to in my city changed its acceptance of certain insurances and now NO dentists in my area accept my insurance. Many others also share the same insurance as I and are forced to travel many miles in other towns. In addition to finding a clinic to accept us, our treatment is compromised as well. Better equipment, therapy, prescriptions and measures may not be used due to our insurance. Another example, even though a certain treatment plan may be more advantagious to the client...often times insurance will not cover certain methods prescribed by the practioner. In my case, a chiropractor recomended that I would need a certain series of ultrasounds and x-rays, and manipulation to be treated properly and regain my physical well being. However, my insurance only covers the manipulation and NOT the x-rays, and ultrasounds. My doctor can not treat me appropriately based on my insurance. I am compromised, and it is UNFAIR. I wrote my senator and found that he and others are in my agreement. A change must be done so that we can all be diagnosed and treated fairly!!!! |
