Woman Goes into Labor on Oprah

An audience member delivered a big shock to Oprah Winfrey Thursday: She went into premature labor during taping of the show.

Toronto native Lori McCrindle, who was 27 weeks pregnant, discovered her water broke in the bathroom while visiting ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show.’

McCrindle was rushed by ambulance to a Chicago hospital, where she gave birth less than an hour later to a baby boy named Justin, who weighed 2 pounds, 13 ounces.

A rattled Oprah, who halted taping and ran off the set while McCrindle was loaded into the ambulance, revealed the baby news on Friday’s live show.

The talk-show queen also had the new mom phone in with an update. “He was born about 20 minutes after I saw you,” McCrindle told Oprah. “You helped me through… He’s doing pretty good. They’re doing a lot of tests on him now.”

“After all these years, it is not too often we have a first. But yesterday was a doozy,” Oprah said.
