Life's Riches
Soft breeze blowing strong within a strange faraway land Lonely woman with child, dust coated, clasps her hands Sitting silently on dirt covered brick as humans run pass Life it seems is too commonly always separated by class Close by an empty tarnished cup, her smile has long faded Dark, the poverty of her body covered in rags, with hatred Naked child smiling with innocence of peace deep within Not yet knowing the evil of people that hastily removes a grin Tears slowly trace through from the corner of her lovely eyes Flowing softly forming mud which is mixed with landing flies Staring at passersby, her heart hardened in stone by the years Child laughing, starving, has not encountered the terrible fears Hoping, she is, for enough money given to buy only some food No alcohol involved with this one you see, yet others are rude Poor, desolate, falling, failing, trying to escape to make sense Everyday the same thing, every year that goes by begging for cents Forty Baht (one dollar) enough to buy bread and water for the day Yet each person passes not caring, not looking, walking quickly away No end in sight of everlasting misery you see, for us humans began Poverty, divided by class, causing the collapse nearing the end. |
