IMO, political promises should be legally binding. People vote them in according to what they promise. After they get in, they pretend to never have made any.

Do you think they should be legally bound to promises and show a timetable also?

I think its to jerk the rug out from under the good ol boys in DC and hold them accountable for everything they do and don't do. I also think that whatever promises are made during campaigns should be held to task by requiring them to sing a contract with the people upon being sworn into office.

I dont think a politician can promise anything except what they will TRY to do,,, and I dont think their promise should have any different standard than anyone elses

As a compromise, I wouldnt mind some contractual(written) pledge of the things they will TRY to get done,, but in all reality, many times promises we make today can be impossible to keep when unforseen situations arise later. If a politician promises to try to do something,, I prefer to see where they have made an honest effort(even if they havent succeeded) or where there was some unforseen reason that prevented them from trying,,,
